Edelweiss Guest House

My wife booked for 4 nights at this guest house and we had 3 breakfasts. The weather was mixed but the comfort and hospitality at this hotel made up for it. The rooms are cleaned and serviced every day. Breakfast was made especially entertaining by Luke with no request to much trouble. There was loads to eat and it was good quality and piping hot. Our room was on the third floor and did not have a sea view. It did not matter. It was very comfortable and had the usual tea making facilities. The only thing lacking was a mini fridge to keep the wine cool. We will return.

The hotel is well located, on Queen's promenade, so some rooms (including mine) had a sea view. That was nice to see the sun rise or hear the see. Much choice for breakfast (both continental and English). The room was correct, clean, but could be better... Luggage storage is possible, that's convenient.

A wonderful place to stay! Shirley went above and beyond to accommodate me on my stay on the Island. Clean, comfortable, quiet & welcoming with a great view of the Douglas Bay. My first visit to the Isle Of Man was made complete on discovering this gem of a guesthouse. Wonderful breakfasts too! If I could give six stars, I wouldn't hesitate. Thank you again for making my stay perfect.

Amazing stay, We felt like we were staying with family..The room was very comfortable,and the bed was comfy. Shirley the proprietor was so friendly and helpful. It made our trip to IOM perfect. We highly recommend the Edelweiss Guesthouse.

What a little gem of a place. Stayed for the weekend and had a lovely time. The rooms are spotless, we had a sea view twin room that was very comfortable. Great shower and comfortable beds. Room to hang clothes and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The breakfast is good but what really makes breakfast worthwhile is Luke (Skywalker!!). He has a great sense of humour and has some great banter with the guests. He seems to know instinctively who he can banter with and he gave us a good laugh. A great little find. We will return.

Nice room with a very comfy bed. The place itself is in a convenient location just off the sea front and is just a short walk away from plenty of pubs and restaurants. It also has a bus stop out the front making it easy to get around. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Will look to stay again when next in Douglas

Just back from my third mini-break this year so far at The Edelweiss. You’re always guaranteed a warm welcome from Shirley on arrival and nothing is too much trouble till the moment you leave. The room was one of my favourites, light and clean with a view of the sea and a bed that is so comfortable that you can’t help but get a great nights sleep. Breakfast was on point as always and set me up perfectly for my busy days. All too soon it was time to come home and I can’t wait to go back, I can’t recommend the Edelweiss enough, you can’t find a more perfect place to stay when visiting this jewel of an island. When we entered the guesthouse for check in we were welcomed very warmly and had all the facilities explained very clearly. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a stunning sea view. The guesthouse was quiet and we slept well. The breakfast was hot, plentiful, well cooked and very nice with a good selection. The owner was very friendly and spontaneously left us a congratulations card on our purchase of a property on the island. We were sad to leave this excellent guesthouse and would highly recommend a stay here. It’s very centrally located for all transport links and promenade facilities.

Negatives: - Room small for a twin. - En suite very small - Lot of noise from promenade - Room very warm even with radiator turned off - Couldn't sleep because of heat - but couldn't open window because so noisy outside. - Room and stairwell smelled of motor oil for some reason. - Shabby carpets. Was actually a hole in the floor underneath carpet. - Fussy about servicing rooms. They post a rather passive aggressive note under your door about 'not being able to service your room' if you dare have a lie in on your break. Most places these days either service on request or every third day. Struck me as OTT. - Room I had had roller blind and no curtain. Would loudly rattle if you had window open to try and cool the stuffy room down at night. Should have had proper curtains. - Depressing signage and dated decor in stairwell areas. To be frank looked like some depressing lodging house out of 1970's. Positives - Free parking on prom - Reasonable value - Aside from shabby carpet the room decor was pleasant - Room clean - Simple and efficient online booking system - Simple and efficient key fob entry to front door - Friendly enough staff - Lovely sea views from front rooms - Just set back a few metres from prom - Original Victorian features - Give option to not have breakfast - not everyone wants greasy fry ups first thing. - Fairly generous with complimentary tea, coffee, soap etc...
