There is a monument in the car park of the great Irish man John Holland who invented the submarine and taught in Scolars . The manager greeted me and although I didnt have a table booked ,and the hotel was busy , I was given a lovely comfortable seat by her at the bar which I was thankfull for. I had a very nicely presented and tasty chicken curry , with friendly service . The prices on the menu are very reasonable. It's a lovely clean hotel with great character as well, I highly recommend and will return.

We booked Scholars for our one Confirmation dinner for 13 people. We were offerd a private room off the main bar area which was absolutely beautiful. On our arrival , our host Catherine quickly identified our son to congratulate him. It was most of our familys first time at Scholars, so Catherine gave us a history of the building before taking our order . Her service was outstanding , nothing was overlooked or too much trouble . The food was amazing and we had the most wonderful evening. Thank you to all the wonderful staff, but Catherine truly made our evening super special . We will be back!!

Fabulous lunch on Valentine's Day... delicious food, wonderful Staff... simply the best! Highly recommend this beautiful venue.. we ate in the bar and we're so well taken care of! Thank you to Mark and the team... a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Everything about this hotel is an experience from food to room to ambience .Staff very friendly and welcoming jumping to all our needs . Good value for money. Decor of hotel is like stepping back in time with all the comfort. I will definitely be back

This is the second time I have stayed here and once again the moment we arrived we were greeted with such a warm welcome. The room was perfect and the bar/restaurant has a great atmosphere. Excellent service and great food. What an amazing breakfast also. Amazing hosts always going above and beyond.

We enjoyed our stay here. Our windows were arched and filled with stained glass - lovely. There was a canopied bishop's chair in our room. The bed was comfy. Due to the historic nature of the building, there are twists and turns and squeaky floors ... all part of the charm for us. The breakfast was served from a menu in a beautifully decorated room and was the best of our two week trip. The server was efficient and courteous.

Scolarstown House Hotel. I celebrated my birthday in style at Scolarstown House Hotel last night. This Hotel is the jewel in Drogheda’s Crown. From the moment we arrived we were looked after in a manor of five star luxury. I cannot thank the staff enough for such a wonderful day and night. How lucky I feel to have experienced such high quality service. Your love of the perfect service to a customer shines through. Thank you to the door staff/ the lovely barman/ the waiting staff for our meal and the servicing staff. Exceptional service. 5star. To the chef thank you so much for going off menu to assist my love of fresh pan fried cod. It was a stunning combination of fresh fish and vegetable mouth watering good food. Everyone was so impressed with the food they have done nothing but speak so highly of it today. Well done to this establishment we will be back!!

Good food, however before we were finished with our meal we were asked to leave our table as they had another reservation. Offered a table at the bar however when we moved no table in the bar was available. Left standing in a bar with our dinner drinks. Rude and insulting would not recommend.

My husband and I took my sister to Ireland for the weekend for her birthday and stayed at the Scholars Townhouse Hotel. It was such a lovely experience with first-rate customer service from every team member. My particular thanks to Alwen for all her help with organising a lovely birthday surprise for Wendy. We all had lunch and thoroughly enjoyed every bite! The fish and chips were superb as were each of the puddings we tried. Additionally, the wine list was second to none with a fantastic range to suit all budgets. The Superior room was delightful with a comfy bed and fluffy pillows, plus plenty of space. The bathroom was also very well-appointed. For me, the real stars of the show were the team, they literally could not do enough for you and we were all made to feel incredibly welcome.
