Premier Inn Dumfries

Very comfortable stay, well up to usual Premier Inn standards. Special mention here for receptionist, Georgina, who noticed my partner had some mobility issues, and very kindly transferred us from an upstairs room to a downstairs room close to the entrance. This was way above and beyond the service generally experienced in ANY hotel, and Georgina's friendliness and helpfulness was very much appreciated!

Having worked for and stayed in many premier inn, you can expect a certain standard. Unfortunately our room had no hot water for the first night of our stay. Visiting for a funeral, added extra stress to our stay, however when reported, we were compensated with free breakfast- this was by far the best part of my experience - Breakfast- Angela whom greeted,served and seated us was kind, attentive and caring. The food was well presented and well replenished. Angela made great efforts in making sure we enjoyed our breakfast , even sharing valuable knowledge of local area. Thank you for making our stay lovely in the end.

We had two trips in January to this hotel unfortunately for visiting a sick relative in hospital and then for a funeral. We picked Premier Inn because we are familiar with them, they are good value for money, we like the breakfast and this one was in a good location for our needs. The staff in the restaurant area for breakfast were so lovely and friendly. They were always there to make sure we were happy and had everything we wanted. Angela and her team on our second stay were so kind. We were meeting some relatives at the hotel before going to the funeral. I asked if we could meet and sit for a bit with them just before we headed off together. Although technically the restaurant was closed the staff were there just finishing off. Angela and team made us all very welcome, gave us an area to sit and said “just ask if you need anything”. They were amazing and it was just the kindness we needed on such a sad day. Restaurant / pub don’t open till 5 after booking in premier inn at 2 . . Ordered dinner at 6.30 and waited an hour for service. Was like spending hard earned good money at a youth club. . Seem like everyone was under 15 yo and not bothered. . . I work for portakabin and stay in premier In with colleagues all over the country. The only saving grace and saviour and breath of fresh air . Was a waiters called ( Tegan )Dumfries . . Personally ask for for name as she stood out amongst all the rest put together. Polite / hardworking/ welcoming . Apologetic. ( when food was an hour ) ie other staff didn’t seem to care . . . . . Ask if food was ok when no one else clearly cared . Ask if they was anything else’s she could do .. I could go on … a real credit. . Sack everyone else . Or get Tegan to train them . X

We as a family have stayed at the Solway Gate quite a few times. We like to come to the Dumfries area to visit nearby Caerlaverock nature reserve. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. On this occasion the female staff at the hotel and restaurant went out of their way to accommodate us and help with our elderly father; thank you so much for your help and understanding. We have all enjoyed our weekend stay very much.

The worst hotel experience of my life !..filthy, disgusting room stinking of cigarettes and feet sticking to the carpet ! The shower leaked and the next night the sodden towels, which I had used to mop the water up were still lying there. Fire alarm at 01:00hrs nearly tipped me over the edge ! First bad review I have ever written by the way !
