Royal Marine Hotel

We had the most wonderful day thank you - especially to Myat who looked after us so well for afternoon tea! The spa was also fantastic. Would highly recommend.

Fabulous old hotel in Dun Laoghaire. Needs major cosmetic work done, very tired. Great location though, near the pier and the Dart Station is just out front. Terrible tight car park, and no elevator below level -1 so take your suitcases out at the front of the lobby if you’re driving. Would only stay there again because of its location.

Great location, staff were wonderful (especially Ece at Reception), room was very clean and comfortable, food quality and choice was excellent.

This was our last stop touring Ireland and thought we kept the best till last... Hotel on 5th floor with view of the harbour. Very nice. We did think on entering this could get the top marks having toured the whole of Ireland.  Room clean 1st night apart from getting housekeeping to change sheet as blood stain on it.  2nd night room not serviced at all. Staff friendly in reception.  Went to Harry's Bar for meal.  Asked to move from table as reserved albeit no reserved sign on table when the staff took us to it. Other table not suitable. 3rd time lucky next to service area. After no room service I'd had enough, didn't complain 1st night but after tonight my disappointment had to be voiced. This is meant to be a good hotel.  I complained to front desk. I take it the gentlman I spoke to was the Manager and he did want to know about our complaint.   I was asked if he could send someone in now but we refused. I just asked for milk and teabags.  It really should have been done. (Was it because I mentioned the dirty bedding  - one had to wonder) We even had a sign on the door please service.  Very disappointed as this was our last day in Ireland after touring 16 days.  Sad to end it this way, not our number 1 after all.

The staff in the Royal Marine is what makes this family run hotel simply amazing. From the progressive General Manager Colin Brown who takes total pride in his ship. To Myat the Burmese lady who runs the front bay lounge like its her own sitting room. She is quite a character and you never have to ask her twice for anything. She breathes good customer service. Quite a gutsy lady too as I saw her today gently reprimanding a rude customer for putting his runner clad shoes on the furniture. One gesture in his direction had him cowering sheepishly and taking swift corrective action!! I’m blessed to be a member of the pier Health Club since 2007 where I’m greeted with a smile & chat every morning by the wonderful Helen. Since Daria has taken charge of the pier health club it is on a constant mission of continual constant improvement. If you’re lucky enough to get Fiachra as your trainer your fitness levels will improve like you never thought possible

This Victorian-style hotel has lovely period features and a very convenient location. The surrounding area feels safe, with shops nearby and easy access to the DART station. Staff presence is reassuring, they are helpful and accommodating, and underground parking is a plus. However, several aspects could be improved. While the historic charm is appealing, the property would benefit from a deep clean, as some areas feel dusty and tired. Room and bathroom paintwork is sloppy, and the décor feels mismatched and lacking cohesion. Breakfast is repetitive, with limited vegetarian hot options, and the pillows are flat and uncomfortable. Rooms facing the astroturf are particularly disappointing, with limited natural light that makes them feel dark and uninviting. Overall, a hotel with a good foundation and charming character, but in need of more attention to detail and refreshment to truly shine.
