Travelodge Dundee Strathmore Avenue

Extremely comfortable bed, staff very helpful. Stayed for one night and it was very good night sleep. We did not eat here this time but last time the breakfast was extremely tasty. All in all I would book here again for the price I paid. Parking also was easy and plenty of spaces to be had this time.

Hotel was extremely clean, well maintained and had extremely professional staff. I will highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Dundee

Where to start… • GDPR breaches • guests ill from chemicals • Other guests walking into rooms through the night - same rooms allocated to multiple guests • cctv that suddenly stops working when footage is requested • Assistant manager with 0 customer service skills. • Manager who happily throws his staff under the bus. • I have been seeking advice elsewhere, I would urge all guests who have been through the same, do the same. I had booked this hotel last minute, solely for a place to get my head down after long days visiting at the hospital. The first night the room I was given, had a very strong smell similar to paint/white spirit. I assumed there had been some painting done that day. However the fumes then started to give me a headache, dizziness and sickness. When I was able to go to reception I was allocated a different room by Lucy (?) that evening the assistant manager Dylan informed me it’s not paint they don’t paint the hotel, and stated Its chemicals. Naturally concerned with how ill it made me and the reasons for my stay. After speaking to a consultant it was agreed I needed to know which chemicals before I could re enter the ward. I had informed Dylan with regards to this, stated he couldn’t tell me anything. However when i contacted the council, Dylan panicked and told me it’s “cleaning chemicals” for chemicals to be that potent for over 16 hours he then tried to tell me it’s apple air freshener After a SAR request to the hotel, the CCTV suddenly stopped working. Originally told no sound, then they stepped it up to the full system failing. Information shared around other guests- names, address, issues etc all shared. Including length of time guests have been there/ will be there. Staff standing outside the hotel getting stoned. Same rooms allocated to multiple guests which resulted in guests walking into other rooms through the night. 4 weeks later and still no answers, customer service team are 0 help.

Noisy rooms one was a radiator stuck on it was noisy and no thermostat to turn off. Bathroom fan loud and stuck on constantly. Changed rooms loud and noisy guests swearing and shouting all night. Arguments in reception area staff and guests. Breakfast start at 8am! NO more like 9am only half Hot stuff out. Very dirty outside with litter hotel could be doing with a paint outside and in. Never again!!

I had to send back my food twice, the waitress agreed that she wouldn’t eat it. She was lovely, and said lots of people complained about the food. The room was small, but adequate. Decent bed. Definitely not worth £72 per night, when there are other options nearby at a similar rate.

All in all awful. The whole place is in need of a good clean, if not a full on extensive refurbishment. We were allocated room on the first floor overlooking the car park. There was a rancid stale smell in our room. We hoped to complain about this in the morning as we were late in getting to our room the previous night, but there was no one in reception, and we had a tight timeline early the next day. Had we arrived sooner, and not been so exhausted, I'd have complained when we went to our room that night. The smell .... boak. There was a puddle of water on our bathroom floor when we arrived and visible vomit on the roof over reception, which is directly outside the only opening window in this room. The corridors are in need of a freshen up and the dirt on the skirting boards is cringe worthy. The staircases were in desperate need of a hoover and had what looked like days and days of dirt and muck. I wouldn't recommend staying here, and we certainly won't be back. It's on par with the awfulness of the travel lodge at the old Isle of Skye Hotel in Perth. Its as though these hotels are just being run into the ground, with cleanliness and improvements being so low in the priorities, they are non existence.
