The hotel is OK. It’s the details for me. The proximity to el Centro is great, walking distance to a lot of attractions and a quick 25 minute ride from airport. We rented two rooms, in one of the rooms the plaster was falling off the wall, the shower was not cleaned properly there was hair all over the floor, the hinges on the shower door were super dirty, the keys to the room didn’t work properly, and the water pressure was not the best in the shower. Nothing surprising as a lot of other reviews mention the same issues.

Hotel Gobanador is an old, grand property with a beautiful courtyard, great restaurant, and tremendous service. There were a few flaws that prevented the hotel from receiving 5 stars. But overall, if I were to return to Durango, I would not hesitate to stay here again. Let's get the flaws out of the way first. The property is older with some updated rooms. That is usually not a problem but the room we were originally given had a leak from the ac unit in the room. After they were unable to fix the leak they moved us into a different room which also had a leaky ac. This room also had poor water pressure in the shower and lacked hot water at in the evening. When we reported this to the front desk they fixed the shower pressure and hot water. They were never able to fix the ac so they gave us a portable unit which worked fine. This experience leads to the pros, primarily the service. They went out of their way to make things right and I truly appreciated all their efforts even if they were unsuccessful. The property has a beautiful courtyard which led to a few pleasant evenings just lounging by the pool. There were several events held in the beautiful courtyard while we were there. Then there was the restaurant, La Hacienda, which served some of the best food not just in Durango but I have ever had. The menu was not extensive but everything we tried was delicious. The service was impeccable. The cocktails were expertly made. The wine list was expensive, especially the imported wines. Of note there is a drive through Starbucks in the parking lot. Next to the Starbucks kiosk was a small seating/garden area. Again the staff/baristas here were excellent. There is also an attached parking garage.

This has been the second time staying in this hotel. We (my family and siblings) have had great experience here. This time, unfortunately several items were taken from my room (my bag with makeup, perfume and other items).I spoke to the (ama de llaves) she was very polite and heard my complains. She did take the appropriate steps reviewing cameras and searching the person that went in my room to clean. I went above her and spoke to Brenda her supervisor. Again, they were very polite. I was very shocked 1 day later my things were in my room. I did not put my items were we found them. Either way I am very happy I got them back. I love this hotel but for the future, just an advice for others and myself don’t let the cleaning ladies in your room. I’m going based on my experience. Beside this incident they have great food great location and love the ambiance.

Got here before the check in time at 3pm. They said room will not be ready until 3pm. I wait 2.5 hours, still no room. Finally 3:50 pm I get my room after going to the desk again. Spoke with manager, to see if they can give us a dinner since I had waited 50 extra minutes! Sorry, no, we can't do that. Horrible check in experience, worst customer service too. They advertise in the web, a special for USA guests. They just want the money, then drop you.

We had no hot water in room. We needed to leave at 7 am to reach our next destinatio. We had maintenance in and out of room for 45 minutes without success. We ginally gave up and left without a shower.

This was formerly my go-to hotel in Durango. However, an item of value disappeared from my hotel room and the hotel dismissed the situation. I have been following up with no response from the General Manager. I'm incredibly disappointed with how unprofessional they have been. Based on other reviews, I've seen this is a recurring problem. Sadly, I won't return and will no longer recommend this hotel in Durango.

So much to say... basically they host parties all the time. Even a 10 yr old birthday party with kids eating and throwing food in the pool! Parents didn't care their kids were trashing (and probably peeing in) the pool. Disgusting! Total disregard for guests. Almost every night a party. There was also a wedding then a reception. They do this in the open outdoor area where the pool is. My daughter cried when I told her I wasn't going to crash the wedding reception so she could go to the pool. So I had to deal with an upset kid then all the party noise. It's too bad because this is the best hotel in town and today it seemed like a Day at Chuckee Cheese, only worse! Upon arrival I thought this was a classy place, but this kiddie party with these little heathens just tells me they do not care about guests. The owners should build a separate establishment for hosting events. I'm sure they can.

Great location in historic area of Durango, Durango Mexico. Family stay with two teens, ages 17 & 18. Walking distance to shopping and eating. Great hotel service and room was clean. My husband and I did have a hard time with the pillows. They were hard. Other than that, I have stayed here before and would stay again. There is a Starbucks by the pool.
