Restaurant Bären Dürrenroth

I was wondering why the hotel Baeren, located in such a remote area, had such an excellent reputation. After staying there I know why! Its because of the so friendly, helpful and professional team which runs the hotel. Special mention goes to Elina and Julis Eder who went out of their ways to help us feel most welcome and arranged for all special requests to be met. The hotel has rooms facing the road (hardly any traffic) and rooms facing the lovely garden and pond at the back of the house. The property is very quaint throughout and the number of fresh flowers all around the compound is staggering. Our room was comfortable and had a large built-in bathroom with shower, lavabo, and toilet. Sadly, there is only liquid soap in the room. No conditioner, no Q-tip, no body lotion. Bring yourself. Only other point to improve would be to arrange some shelves both in the room and the bathroom to put down things. Our Dinner at the Restaurant was just fine, but not special. We noticed that most guest chose half pension. For us, preferring a la carte meals, the menu offered very little choice, particularly no down-to-earth comfort food. For the following two nights we went out for dinner to Sumiswald. At breakfast there is minimal fruits - only slices of melon and sometimes melon. The muesli is terrible, void of cream and fresh fruits and berries. There is not much to see around Duerrenroth, so a one-night or two-night's stay is most appropriate. This is a charming, well run hotel well worth visiting. Our compliments to the team at the reception.

The hotel was absolutely lovely, the staff were super helpful and the spa wellness area very intimate and special. The restaurant is really good too. The charm of the hotel is very special. I love this place and will definitely come back....

Very nice location. Friendly and helpful staff. And the food ,, ohhhh what was that good. Finally a restaurant with a veggie menu with love !1 The room had everything that was needed for my trip. The only downside was that a had no desk in the room, so I had to work on the laptop in bed.

After friends recommended this place and room number 12 (small but very efficient and great view of the garden), we booked. We could not have been more pleased. It truly is a romantic hotel and the experience is intimate, friendly and of a high quality. One small complaint, but for some reason it did not truly effect our sleep - the matresses were rather soft with a dent. The pillows were excellent as well as the bedding itself. The spa is just wonderful, but do not go just before Apéro as it will be rather full. But any other time and we basically had the entire spa to ourselves. It is lovely to have access to Tea and small condiments. It is entirely clean and hygenic. The whirlpool could have been a little warmer, but was still nice. Breakfast seemed a bit chaotic on our first morning. Bacon and eggs were out, and I asked when it would be refilled and she just shruggered her shoulders. As we left, we saw them finally filling the bacon - such a shame. The Sopf (Sunday Bread) was of an excellent quality and consistency as was the Plume jam and Birchermüesli. Our second breakfast had no faults and we were even able to buy a Sopf for Sunday at home (such a treat). It is all about consistency. Diner both nights was absolutely excellent and worth the price. Service was top drawer and fun - we really enjoyed ourselves. Now for those complaining about the price, go with the Half-Penison, Yes, it does seem like a lot of money, but when you break it down between hotel and food it is more than fair. We will most definitely come back next year.

Nous avions réservé la suite « Mansarde », c’était magnifique (encore plus que sur les photos!). La suite est grande et très confortable, nous avons été très bien accueillis, le personnel est chaleureux et à l’écoute. Le repas du soir et le déjeuner étaient très bons, et petit + : ils ont apporté un dessert surprise et ils ont réalisé une petite décoration pour l’anniversaire de mon conjoint (je ne leur avais rien dit, ils ont juste pu le remarquer à sa date de naissance). Cela montre leur implication et leur sens du détail auprès de leurs clients, et c’est ce qui fait tout la différence! Ce n’est pas notre dernière fois dans cet hôtel à coup sûr :)

Es war nun unser 3.Mal und wir sind immer noch sowas von geflasht. Die Suiten sind einfach traumhaft schön und gut gepflegt. Wenn ihr auf der Suche nach einer tollen Wellness-Auszeit im wunderschönen Emmental seid, dann ist das genau das richtige für euch. Wir können es nur empfehlen.
