Maddens on Gull Lake

I met my son at Madden's for a weekend in September. It was the perfect time to visit since the summer season was done and less crowded plus the weather was still warm. We had a cabin along the lake with a deck. Our cabin had 2 queen beds, bathroom, and small fridge/microwave. The cabin was clean, and housekeeping made daily stops to inquire if we needed anything. We wished there was a kitchenette to prepare a simple meal/snack. This resort is huge and offers many places for dining. We were even able to order from the pizza cafe and have it delivered to our cabin. We enjoyed walking on the property and along the lake. We also used the laundry facilities, which were not near our cabin, so we had to drive and find a place to park.

The resort is absolutely beautiful. The packages offered are slightly deceptive. Caution with cancelation policy even at 6 months out. If you make an error, they will not genuinely attempt to assist or refund you even 6 months out from the stay. I accidentally booked an extra room. Realized it 6 months before the stay. Disappointed, as the staff seemed quite antagonistic rather than helpful.

We spent five nights in a two BR cottage on Wilson Bay. The buildings are old, but to us it wasn’t a big deal. There is so much to do here. I definitely recommend getting the recreation pass, which is $30 per person for the whole stay. You get free bike, kayak and paddle board rentals, and free green fees on the 9-hole par three golf course. There are nice tennis, pickle ball, sand volleyball, croquet and bocce ball courts. The grass on croquet and bocce ball courts is very well Maintained. You can get all needed equipments there. They serve pizza and salads right there, which is great. The beaches are great. We loved the staff at the marina. Wake boarding was amazing. The instructors, Amanda and Matt were very professional and friendly and did everything they could to make sure our 12 year old could surf. The lake is really big. I played the East golf course, which is wide open and was fun to play. The green fees, cart and rentals are very reasonable for people who stay at Maddens . We ate at the Mission Point one night. The food was ok and the service could have been better. The views were nice though. The food and service at the Fairways was much better. We ate there twice. I wish they had better beer selection. Overall, everyone who worked there was very professional and helpful. We would definitely go back.
