Netherby House B&B with River Cafe

I had a terrible experience with Netherby House B&B. I booked two rooms for my elderly mother and I for one night for $170 and $185 respectively. I dropped in early on the day of our booking to double-check if the place was suitable for my mother who has limited mobility, and found the house to look nothing like the impression the pictures gave on the website. The house and gardens looked neglected and run down. Everything from the carpark out the back, to the garden and verandah at the front looked untidy and unkempt with things stacked in piles and a hole burnt in the grass where a bonfire must have been lit. There was a strong smell of garbage. No one was home and the interior hallway looked dark and dingy. Although I immediately cancelled the rooms (when I called the owner to cancel she told me to do it through the website and hung up on me). Nevertheless, Netherby House still deducted the money from my credit card two weeks later without my authorization. It has been an ongoing nightmare to try and get refunded for these two rooms. My advice is do not stay here, the owner/manager is rude and unhelpful and the house has seen better days.
