Fairfield Inn East Rutherford Meadowlands

It’s average. Some people were speaking very loud in the hallway away after midnight but weren’t there for too long. One of the two elevators was out of service and only one was working.

My sister & I stayed here as part of a bus tour from Canada. The first thing you notice when entering the hotel is a musty smell. The elevators are not in the best shape..there's actually tape holding some of the trim on the inside of one! We got to our room which also had that same musty smell. I had read reviews before going, so I was armed with some odour eliminator which took care of our room! There's not much room in the bathroom for 2 womens toiletries, but we made it work. There's no exhaust fan in the bathroom, which may account for some of the musty smell. There was old toothpaste splatter on the trim of the mirror above the sink The furnishings are dated and worn...chair in the corner has deep layers of dust ground into the seams. The bed side light shade was broken. Thick layer of dust on the wall behind bedside table. On the upside, the beds were very comfortable as were the pillows! We found the hotel quiet even tho there was a wedding party staying there too. Breakfast was quite good. Fruits, yogourt, cereals, oatmeal, eggs, bagels etc and the coffee was really excellent. I loved the inclusion of oatmilk at the coffee station too. The wifi (altho unsecured) was super fast, and the tv worked great. All in all we had an enjoyable stay. It would benefit them to find time to shut down a room at a time to give them a good, deep cleaning.

Great hotel for visiting NYC on a budget. The rooms are big and you have plenty of space for luggage. There is an ironing board which was a bonus! There is shampoo and conditioner in the shower, so no need to bring any. There's also a microwave (turn the light on at the door for it to have power) and there's a fridge. There is NO SAFE which is the only drawback to the room. There are ice machines and laundry on site. The breakfast is good, but the hot options need some work. The bacon was too crisp....couldn't really eat it easily as it feel apart...more like bacon crumble. Haha. The eggs were ok, but the pre packaged sandwiches are not good , but the rest of the breakfast is fantastic. The eating area is small, but they have an overflow room and it's usually quiet. I use this hotel for my student and adult trips and they really enjoy it! Easy access into NYC as well....bus stop right outside the door!

2 stars is the best could manage. When we arrived the room smelled musty and felt damp our whole stay. Breakfast was underwhelming. Friends of ours had a toilet that ran all night the first night, and a constant dripping sound from the AC, they fixed the toilet but couldn't do anything about the AC. All in all I would choose any of the other hotels in the area.

The room was ok, it was a little small and a little bit dirty. But the breakfast was the most disappointing part. Breakfast starts at 7am, I got there at 8am and by then the eggs were cold, the oatmeal was a solid clump, and out of yogurt. They don't even have real fruit - just some sort of blueberry compote. Stay anywhere else if you want an edible breakfast and a clean room.

We have stayed at this Fairfield several times. From desk staff pleasant and helpful. Rates are reasonable considering proximity to NYC. Room was clean and everything functioned (microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge). Beds very comfortable. There was a good variety of breakfast offerings, just wish there was a waffle maker. Breakfast crowds depend largely on whether a school group is staying there. Breakfast staff kept things stocked as best they could. Wish there was a waffle maker, but that probably would have slowed things down considerably at the buffet. Very conveniently located on the NJ Transit bus line into the city, schedule and easy to read directions available at the front desk. Bus info needs to be updated with changed fares. Would stay here again.
