Unite Students - Salisbury Court

The place is tidy, clean and for mid August in Edinburgh then exceptionally good value for money but you need to be clear about what you get. It's a student room , no TV bed is small for a couple albeit just about a double, I managed to fall out one night. The decor is clean tidy but completley soul less . The bathroom and toilet is small, very small, the shower is so small that my wife who is 5,10 and 10 stone could not bend down , being a bit bigger I could just get in but couldn't bend or turn around. There is a shared kitchen , but we were out most of the time. The communal hallways were very tired. If all you want is a bed then fine but it was to much of a compromise for us. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that for the price and the fact its clean , tidy etc is a fair reflection, but not for me in the future.

We stayed here for 4 nights during the Fringe, having had a pretty disastrous experience last year staying in someone's spare room. Location is decent, about 15 mins walk to Pleasure Courtyard and 30 mins to Monkey Barrel. All in all it was fine, and as we expected. Less polished than photos but a decent base. Pros: Very accessible - easy to find, 24 hour entrance and exit and we found free parking nearby. Very clean and spacious outside of the actual room. Having access to a kitchen was nice, and made the Fringe a big cheaper. Decently priced (just over £100 a night). Foyer and shared spaces were nice, it had a library and game areas. Nice views over the other buildings! Cons: Room itself is tiny, my husband is 6ft tall and his feet hung out the end of the bed. The beds are small doubles, which is made clearer before check in than at booking. The mattresses are a bag of springs and on wooden bases. Because they are mini flats, there could be 10 couples sharing a kitchen. Everything is audible through the walls, and one morning someone stood in the corridor and yelled for half an hour. They may as well have been in our room. The doors bang loudly.

We had a studio room during summer break. It is a perfect replacement for a regular hotel room, much cheaper as well. The room was modern, including a kitchenette with kitchenware, kettle,micro, fridge. Had plenty of room for clothes, large study desk, double bed which is a smaller double but we had enough space. On arrival we had some issues with the door key reader,but they changed the batteries straight away. Room was clean,area was not too noisy. I would recommend.
