I travel regularly throughout Europe with my job and I was based at the hotel almost full time from late August 2010 to the end of March 2011. I never had the least desire to transfer to any other hotel. The staff deserve a special mention because of the high standard of help and friendliness. The location is excellent. The quality of the breakfast and dinner is really good. I can recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Edinburgh for a long or short stay.

Comfy bed and great breakfast at a really good price. Room was too hot but there was a fan and standing ac which were perfect. Few maintenance things in the room around a previous leak in ceiling, stain on carpet and window ledge which need TLC. The shower curtain needs to go in the bin and be replaced.

What I liked - Very quiet hotel - very cheerful and help staff - Clean and big room - Nice shower - had iron What I didn't like - Far from the city centre - No bathrobes - No slippers - No bath room accessories - No safe - No fridge - Dated furniture What I think can have improved - Expensive Will I revisit this place? Date of travel: January 2022 I do miss this hotel, it's been just so great! Yes of course it was outdated and a bit strange with its maze-like corridors, but the breakfast was significantly better than what much better-rated posh hotels do. It's also extremely well located, just 3 minutes walk from Haymarket train+tram station and at least 20 bus lines. And on the top of all these, it's been very-very cheap! This hotel was like an old lady who's lost her fame, but is still shining. I am looking forward to see what the new building will be like.

DON’T BOOK WITH THEM NO NO.. It’s the worst place to spend your years money while visiting Edinburgh. We literally spent £1200/- and the room was big but not equipped with a functional kitchen. We literally ordered food for 3 days and they promised us a refund for our meals but which is still not with us now 7months. Poorly managed, shower kept leaking and foul smell of the old carpets in the room. Please spread the word and just hope others don’t fall pray to such evil people. They should be banned in Edinburgh.

We only stayed here for a couple of nights and spent the majority of our time out of the hotel. If you were planning to spend more time inside I’d recommend to choose an alternative hotel. The place wasn’t overly exciting, rooms were okay, maybe a little tired looking. We didn’t have any issues as such, we just weren’t blown away by the place. The location wasn’t amazing as it was a fair walk towards the shops, castle and other attractions.

while ordering food. Staff member was extremely cheeky then when lifting the plates he said we don't have to stay here if we didn't like the service.. bloody appalling... never be back. Pretty bad reflection on Edinburgh

This is a filthy desperate place would not waste your money time or energy on this place. Stay home and re think your options. Worst decision ever to stay here. As a Hilton brand they should be ashamed of the offering. Stay in a travel lodge if you want value for money or stay here if you want to feel robbed

Bit old school but it has big rooms with high ceilings. Could have been a bit cleaner, there was a lot of dust and the towels were a bit tatty. Mattresses need changing, needs better lighting and more plug sockets in this day and age. Good value for what we paid though and good location. Breakfast was also good.
