Castle Rock Hostel - Adults Only

Castle Rock Hostel is a great hostel for the location and lounge spaces. It is right by Edinburgh Castle and on the Royal Mile and most things are walkable from the hostel. The bunks are comfortable, but you do share a bathroom with a lot of people as it's one communal bathroom per a floor. There are also no privacy curtains on the bunks, so it can be hard to sleep in the dormitories unless you're a really heavy sleeper. I really loved the complimentary tea and hot chocolate though as well as the cinema in the hostel! The laundry service was also affordable and convenient. The hostel also does a lot of weekly activities which are awesome!

Amazing location right next Edinburgh Castle. Very central. Lovely decor, high ceilings, helpful friendly staff. Free tea and coffee, booze allowed, pool table, board games. Breakfast was a bit limited but very cheap £4. 10 Discount in bars and eateries if you show your free orange pass. I stayed in the triple room which was clean and comfortable with a great view. Showers are a challenge but powerful and hot. Lots and lots of stairs!

I have absolutely no complaints about staying at Castle Rock Hostel! The location was exciting, safe, and unique, the interior was clean and quirky, and it was a very memorable experience! The only thing that I could maybe mention for improvement would be to have had some help with my luggage up the stairs.

A friend of mine recommended this hostel and also required a comprehensive review. Check in was simple with the help from lovely staff. Unfortunately, I didn't get the room that has the most stunning view of the castle. The view from my window in the room called Scottish Football is still gorgeous because it's Edinburgh! Overall, I would recommend this hostel :)

Genuinely amazing value for money. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, there were three lounges. It’s located right next to the castle. The bedrooms got a bit cold at night, but that wasn’t an issue as the bedding provided was thick and warm.

Stayed here 3 nights and it was overall great. It was my first time staying at a hostel. Check in was easy and I was able to get the keys to my room around 2 pm. We stayed in the Harry Potter room which I loved! It had an amazing view of the castle. I believe there was 3 shared bathrooms on our floor with a lot of individual toilets and showers, I actually only saw someone in the bathroom twice during my whole time so you never felt like you had to wait to use the bathroom or shower. I saw the staff cleaning everyday so I know they keep up with the place. They have towels for 2€ and I did laundry for 5€ and it was a huge bag that you could fill and got it back the same day. Would definitely stay here again :-) The location was amazing so close to everything!
