Brooks Hotel Edinburgh foton

This place reminds me of Fawlty Towers. When you arrive you go to reception to be told that the car park is around the corner and you have a choice carry all your possessions from the car park or leave it in reception and then park your car. Then you are told you have to pay £18 to park there despite no mention of this when booking or on their website. We checked in and were given a key with no number on it. I asked the gentleman behind the counter which number it was and he wrote the room number on the tag with a Sharpie. Waited 5 minutes for the lift and eventually gave up and walked up the stairs which were covered in threadbare carpet. Walls were unclean and with damage in parts. Room was as basic as you can get with mismatched furniture and heating was off despite it being -2 outdoors. There was mould in the shower and bathroom floor wasn't cleaned properly. The afternoon tea which was part of our booking was terrible. Crusty sandwiches, supermarket scones and a brownie that was clearly past it's sell by date. We went out and returned around 11pm. We were woken up at 0400 by someone trying to get in our room and basically telling me we were in the wrong room. The person was quite aggressive and this was extremely unnerving. We didn't sleep for the rest of the night. The doors on the rooms were pretty flimsy and they were certainly not fire doors as you could see the light from the corridor through the gaps at the edges of the door. Breakfast continued their standard. Undercooked sausage, bacon,egg and tinned mushrooms. No one in the kitchen had any protective clothing on and looked like a mismanaged operation. I have some experience in catering and if EHO saw what I saw they would probably be closed and asked to retrain at very least. Avoid this place it's an amateurish disaster.
