Summer Stays at The University of Edinburgh recensioner

It was my first time staying in a university dorm as a tourist. It reminded me of my student days. The reception staff who handled our check-in were very friendly and most helpful. At the reception, we learnt about the self-service laundry, breakfast, convenient shop, bar and lounge etc. The room was of a decent size. In fact larger than some hotels. The ensuite toilet and shower were small but adequate. WiFi was strong enough. Good that there was a lift. Tourists like us do carry quite heavy baggage.. Although the room faces the open space where students gathered, the noise did not pose any issue at all. It did not go on late into the night. There were a few lounges. A pantry. A games room. Breakfast was really very good. The restaurant was huge. The buffet was well organised. Food was freshly cooked. Eggs, sausages, haggis, cereals, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, all kinds of bread, etc. The atmosphere was incredible. Just like any campus full of youthful energy. The campus was beautiful just at the foot of Arthur's Seat. And bus transport to the city centre is readily available. It is actually not far to walk.

The room was a single bed with shared bathroom located at the Grant House on the property. I arrived early in the morning and was allowed to leave my bag with reception. I explored the city and came back in the afternoon to check in. My room was dated but clean. It has a single bed with two pillows and a duvet. It was comfortable to sleep in. The room has a sink in the room as well which was handy as I could easily wash up in the room. There is access to the common pantry on the same level with microwave, electric kettle and small refrigerator. Laundry facilities is also available on the same floor. There were 3 individual shower room on the same floor. I used my own toiletries as the ones provided didn’t feel adequate. The shared shower rooms were cleaned daily by the housekeeping team. I was given two sets of bath towels for my stay. Reception was open 24/7. Free Wi-Fi access and lots of power sockets within the room. Hangers were provided in the wardrobe as well. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of variety and plenty of fruits. Plus good selection of coffee, tea and juices. Good affordable accommodation for solo travelers. Location is easily accessible with local bus with bus stop just 5-7mins walk. Arthur’s seat is located just behind the property and easy access to a beautiful walk and hike.

25 mins walk from the city, Holyrood distillery nearby, you can also hike up to Arthur seat in 30 mins. Can get to supermarket in 15 mins. Breakfast included and you can order breakfast box if you have to leave before 7am. Great value for money. Downside is that the check in instructions is not that clear and might take some time to find the reception

That is absolutely fantastic. Perfect open buffer English breakfast and easy check-in and out. Definitely reccomended!!

Walking distance from old city. Great breakfast. Water server at the reception

Very very satisfied. Location. I like this. Although not in the middle of the city, but its very easy to go there by bus and stop at commonwealth pool. There are 2 entrance via holyrood park rd and Dalkeith rd. To go there with luggage, after bus stop. Walk to Holyrood park rd and entrance via main entrance. You will see the reception centre.

Definitely a good experience! Follow the sign board for the reception area!

Excellent accommodation for such a reasonable price. Breakfast was superb and freshly made.

Best travel experience I've ever had. The staff were polite and friendly, great service. The food and drinks were wonderful, everything was very clean.

It's a basic dorm room. Monitoe sized TV only had about 3 channels. The rest were pixelated and unwatchable. The only restaurant on campus was advertised as opened until 11 pm, closed before 9 on a Saturday night. Breakfast was average English breakfast...nothing special. Reception staff was friendly, but this stay was just passable for one night. I wouldn't stay for more than a night.

Good clean room, with a 20-30 min walk into town. Check in / check out process could be tweaked to be more efficient but great stay overall

Basic but pleasant accomodation, easily walkable from the city centre, and well priced for festival season.

We had a vey nice stay here. The room was very clean and comfortable but the towels did have a peculiar smell like they were damp when putaway. The location is perfect for hikes up to Arthur's Seat as it's only a couple minutes away from the trailhead. It's also an easy 30min walk from the High Street so very convenient. Breakfast was average with the usual hot and cold offerings.
