Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge

We spent 3 nights at HoyoHoyo recently and I would thoroughly recommend it. It is a beautiful and tranquil place to stay but what makes it even more special, are the staff. On arrival, we received the warmest of welcomes from Torence who continued to be so friendly and approachable throughout our stay. The rooms were beautifully cleaned and serviced twice a day and the food was of high quality and just delicious. The staff/ butlers were so cheerful and helpful and Ralph, Colbert and Baldwin deserved special mentions. Lastly, a big shout out to our Ranger, Pharence who took us on safaris twice a day. He went out of his way to try and find us all of the animals we wanted to see. His knowledge of the animals, birds and plants was extensive and there was no question that he couldn’t answer. His humour was great, accompanied by delicious morning coffees and fabulous sundowner G&Ts! An added bonus, was that there is a watering hole opposite the main public area, means that if you are lucky, you can see animals strolling by, whilst you are dining, which was truly lovely. In summary, HoyoHoyo deliver a memorable and positively unforgettable experience. Don’t hesitate, go!

We had a lovely trip to Jock Safari. The lodge supports Rhino conservation which is really cool and generally the place and the people who work there are top notch. We had Dawid as the person who took us on our game drives everyday and he was the best! Not only was he super knowledgeable and great at spotting / finding wildlife, he was also very personable and made the experience fun. The meals and drinks were great (definitely can recommend trying their whiskey sour!) and they were very well able to accommodate my vegetarian diet and even the fact that I prefer almond milk to cow milk. The rooms were big and clean, with a very cool deck where we could see elephants, monkeys, etc. If you're looking for a great safari experience, this is definitely the place!

The experience was made by our driver, Patrick, who ensured all the safari drives were interesting. He did his best to find the animals and birds(of which he had a great knowledge). We came very close to a pride of lions and a herd of elephants, but felt safe with Patrick. Sundowner g&t’s were a lovely touch and we had some great people in the jeep to share the experience with. The room was good but we felt it needed some renovations to bring it up to its 5 star rating. The plunge pool was not inviting and needed some attention and the balcony again needed attention. Overall the food was good and plentiful. The transfers to/from the airport all run smoothly, thanks to Patrick.

Came here for our honeymoon for 3 nights and loved every single second. The food was amazing and you always had options. They changed the meals every time so you got to try new food. The drivers are amazing and allowed us to see the big five and more. Would love to come back

We have just spent four days in Chalet 7 at Jock and very much enjoyed it. We are experienced safari goers and Jock is certainly one of the best ones of its type we have stayed in. The rooms are lovely, extremely well furnished and comfortable with walk in shower for two as well as a free standing outside bath tub. Well lit with adequate storage space and comfortable bed. The lodge has a wonderful colonial feel to it and the lounge, bar and restaurant areas are lovely. For a fairly remote place the food is quite good. One night dinner was set up on the dry river bed and my wife was not able to walk on the soft sand, nothing is too much trouble and they set up a table for us upstairs in the restaurant specially for us. Very nice touch. Our only negative is that the wine offering is quite pedestrian compared to other lodges we have visited. Our ranger, Mayneth, was extremely experienced and also interested in birds and we had great fun with him identifying the many bird species around. The mammal sightings excellent, the leopard and cubs adorable as well as the many lion cubs. Elephants abound and we saw the big five within a couple of days but much much more. We would certainly return to Jock and highly recommend it.

All the staff was great, the games we saw a lot of animals and not only once, the food and quality was exceptional! Lovely stay
