Umlani Bushcamp

The Umlani Bush Camp experience is one not to miss. It's the perfect combination of comfort in the wild. The accommodations are large rondavels (huts) that are functional and nicely decorated. Each has its own bathroom and beautiful outdoor private shower. Star gazing while showering is wonderful. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and bushbucks roan freely. There are several eating areas: one overlooks a large pan (watering hole) where elephants, zebra, impala, giraffe, and all forms of game come to drink and/or cool off. The other is next to the boma where there a relaxing fire morning & night. The food is excellent and all that one can manage to eat. The decor is beautiful in the boma. There's a small but well supplied gift shop as well. All the staff are wonderful and the hame drive guides are exceptional. They tracked and brought us to the most incredible wildlife views I've ever experienced. Walking safari with Elvis is a must and impacts one's perspective for life. Connect with the staff ... they are all proud and dedicated to their respective roles in making Umlani the best experience.

We came here as part of our Honeymoon and it was one the best experiences we have ever had nearly rivalling the actual wedding. From the fantastic staff to the food, to the authentic experience of being off the grid and enjoying the bush. Umlani Bushcamp lives up to the name "Place of Rest". Thank you to Micaela and the team. Tips for Travelers: Book in the tree house and Nature walk. We got the tree house for the Day afternoon if you want to see more animals do this if you want to hear the bush and see stars book the night sleep out. Have no expectations you are in the Bush if you see a lot of animals one day and none the next this is not the fault of the camp, this is nature, it does not care you are on safari so relax and enjoy it. Lean into the off-the-grid life there is WIFI in one set area but we had gotten the best rest and recovery we have had in a very long time and I believe this is due to not being on our phones. Respect other guests and staff things have to run on a schedule so the first drive is an early wake-up call at 05:30 am, meals are at set times and you have to be back at your hut at a reasonable time. This suited my wife and me but I understand it's not for everyone, so just understand this for safety and is the norm for Safari.

Very nice stay in a Bushcamp. Nice Breakfast and Dinner. Very clean Camp and Rooms. It’s really authentic, we loved it. Nothing for visitors looking for fancy stay…

Brilliant 4 days spent celebrating a 70th birthday with a group of friends. One of the best of many visits to Umlani. Fabulous sightings and Ephraim and Oupa are the best guide and tracker ever. No question of where to go in Timbavati. Umlani every time.

What a perfect stay. Excellent communication with hosts before arrival. All questions answered quickly. Rooms very clean. Loved the outside shower. Loved the elephant watching from pool area and the treehouse. The safaris were amazing. Saw 4/5 big 5 (missed leopard in morning) and so many other animals. Well coordinated with other Timbavate lodges. It was warm at night but the fan was good and we could sleep easily. Food varied and yummy. I would highly recommend this stay to everyone coming to Greater Kruger area.

We absolutely loved our stay here… from the homely feel of the eco cabins and camp, intimate candlelit dinners, making new friends, drinks and roasting marshmallows by the fire; on top of the most amazing game drives you could ever imagine. The staff are absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable and ensured that Umlani did really live up to its name ‘place of rest’. We all cried when we left and we will most definitely be back!
