The hotel is set away from the main road, so very quiet and its elevated position affords superb views over the meadows and onto the far mountains. We enjoyed watching the thunderstorms at night. Although no porter service, this family run hotel has friendly and almost always efficient staff. My fussy pre-teen girls' palate was catered for and deviations and amendments to the menu were no problem. The food was very good and sufficient. We paid haf-board, which was fine given the daily excursions we made and many times we made it back before 5 p.m. to enjoy snacks/tea time. My only gripe with the restaurant is that we were charged for the tap water, which comes from the ground spring on which the hotel sits. The public areas also have superb views and my daughters enjoyed lounging about in them. There is ample free parking outside, as well as a outdoor chess board with pieces and clay tennis court (word of warning, keep your top on even in sunny weather when playing tennis, due to insects attracted to sweat). Tennis rackets and balls provided. My wife and I relaxed in the spa area whilst our children enjoyed the swimming pool and garden. No Lifeguard available but none needed. The bedrooms were ample in size with very efficient bath/shower rooms and the mattresses were comfortable. The pillows did not offer me sufficient support (a typical European issue) and had we travelled by car instead of aeroplane, I would have taken my pillow from home. Scenic walks from hotel, also into town centre. Should we return to Ehrwald, will definitely stay here again.
