Bajo El Cejo

Found this gem by chance. Should have stayed at least two nights. One of the most memorable meals I have had in a long time. This staff were super friendly and everything was 5star. Scenic beauty or the surrounding area is also spectacular. Can highly recommend this place.

What wonderful hospitality! I had no clue that I would end up just falling in love with El Berro! Mind you, it is not that easy to get to, but definitely worth every effort! First it was the new owners of Mariposa restaurant, where I stopped for directions and information, who told me that I would love this place, (by the way, it is not every day that you find a restaurant owner recommending another restaurant!) but from the moment I arrived, Elena made sure I felt totally at home... "there was free water and tea and coffee... and this was the way out after hours, and this was a room they had for me but I preferred another room, I could have it, which I was shown..." Between Elena who welcomed me, Francesca the chef, (a lovely lady from Rome, Italy, who does the cooking), and Angela who serves breakfast (not to mention the lovely lady who came to make the bed) everyone at this establishment is indeed desiring to make your stay the best. I finally met Andres, the owner, who was walking around with a cane because he had hurt himself (who has written a great book in Spanish about the area and its many offerings for nature loving souls who love to hike, mountain climb, canoe etc...) who also speaks perfect English. The second night I was there, I was too full to have the 5 course dinner (35 Euros) but Francesca made me a fabulous salad with two chicken drumsticks cooked to perfection which was all I could eat, except her AMAZING, LIGHT, TASTY, WONDERFUL chocolate souffle (I had two of those!).... I am sure everyone who comes to stay and enjoys Francesca's cooking and the rest of the staff's most gracious service will come back as will I. BRAVA BRAVA to all who work hard to make this a special home away from home. I savored every second of my time here.

Very nice boutique hotel in a quiet village surrounded by beautiful nature. Super friendly staff, the hotel has a great positive vibe. Our dog was very welcome and they even upgraded us to a room with a terrace. Nice solarium with sauna. The restaurant serves an interesting creative healthy 4 course dinner. House made olive oil with excellent breads. Good wine selection. In the nature reserve there a several wonderful walks, all levels. Good breakfast (and coffee!) We will definately come back. My elderly mother and I had a wonderful stay in this beautiful rustic hotel in mid June 2023. My only regret is that it was only for one night. I was very tired and stressed from my job and this was the ideal place to unwind and relax. Tranquility all the way in the heart of the Spanish countryside perched at the edge of the quaint little village of El Berro, with lovely views. The staff in this family run hotel are extremely courteous and friendly and made us feel very welcome. We got a room adapted to a person with mobility issues and it was perfect, as the main hotel areas such as the restaurant, sitting rooms and outdoor terrace are all next to one another on the ground floor. The pool is on a lower level and is a beautiful infinity pool with plenty of loungers for sunbathing. The food was also superb, with the freshest, most delicious ingredients from their own gardens. That said, the breakfast was superior to the evening dinner. While the dinner was very tasty with several courses, the portions were very small which might not suit people with big appetites. However it was nice not to overeat and to wake up next morning feeling lighter as a result. Overall, a fabulous experience, a wonderful retreat for tired, city workers and anybody overwhelmed by the mass tourism of the costas. I really look forward to a return visit, for longer next time.

Splendid butique hotel in a local style building, with rustical interior, inviting rooms and pleasent personnel. The setting ner the edge of a small valey is exceptional with great views, and very quiet. Beside enjoying the comfortable rooms one shoud treat himself with a delicious dinner- tastefull and in style. The personnel and the owner are very knowledgable and can suggest you where to go in the region. There is also a pool, a lovely garden and lots of organic grown treees, vegetables.

We booked this hotel for a few days quiet and relaxation as well as exploring. Our stay was just fabulous. The staff were really welcoming and even helped with my Spanish which benefited from the stay. The room was great, we had everything we needed and mega clean. The town of El Bero is quiet and typically Spanish which was exactly what we wanted. If you go have dinner at the hotel. The views are great and the food is out of this world. I didn’t want to leave. Thanks for a great stay.

This is a wonderful, comfortable hotel, in a lovely part of Spain. The attention to detail in every respect is excellent, the hotel is spotless in every area. As for the dining experience, don't miss it. Delicious food an excellent wine list and great service, with a chef who's proud and confident enough to leave the kitchen and talk to customers in the dining room.

4 night stay, really great place tucked away in the hills. Staff are really friendly and helpful and can suggest local places to visit. They also speak excellent English. Food is excellent, 5 course meals and the dining experience itself feels very intimate. Rooms big and airy with good views. Would definitely go again
