Isleta El Espino

I had the most relaxing vacation I ever had on this island. The room was comfortable and clean. I loved swaying on the hammock in the common area and on the patio outside my Casita. The food and drinks were fantastic. I was there for a week and thought I would want to go into Granada for a couple of meals but the food at the hotel was so good I ate every meal there. And breakfast was free!! The service was incredible. They were so helpful with everything from scheduling tours and massages to making all of our various drink orders to helping us with our kayaks. Everyone was so nice and friendly. Special shout out to the handsome Captain Jack, the resident cat, who let me pet him and said goodbye to me as I left the island. My friends and I are already discussing when we can return.

We stayed one night in the bungalow and it was a great experience. The pool is really beautiful and we had the Isla only for us for half day. The communication with the hotel could be improved. I have booked through booking and there was no proactive communication on their side on rules or menu (two special meals can only be ordered 24 hours before, I would have probably order one if I was informed on time) or how to reach the island. I have contacted them days before via WhatsApp and got a reply only the evening before. Everything worked out perfectly but a bit of proactive information would feel better. Also, I can see that on tripadvisor is really clear but it would be ideal to show it better also on Booking: no smoking is permitted on the island. Still, it was a beautiful stay for one day and we really enjoy the piece, the ambiente and the nice people.

A small piece of paradise on earth. We arrived in late afternoon with a storm blowing from the lake and it was like arriving in a fairytale setting. The staff were welcoming, our accommodation in the trees was beautifully simple with natural touches. The setting for dinner was truly magical, silence only interrupted by the birds flying over the lake and with a wonderful view of the volcano Mombacho, The menu is fixed but there is enough choice, the breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Fresh juices are made with fresh ingredients. We had a great massage too. We went kayaking on both days and loved it, you can explore so much of the lake and the other islands and be surrounded by silence. Paradise!

We enjoyed our stay at El Espino and appreciated the wide menu choice, the attentive staff and welcome drink. We had opted for the package which was three meals plus an hour massage. On reflection we shouldn’t have done this as we really didn’t get through the food they gave us. Because there is nothing to do on the island other than sit and relax (nowhere to walk) you simply don’t want three meals a day. I unfortunately got a very upset stomach from something I ate there. The bar seems to be extensive though the three cocktails we ordered were disappointing and tasted more like ‘mock tails’ so we ended up sticking to beer. Our stay was three nights, I think two would have been plenty

Wish we could give 6 stars. This place was the most amazing and pleasant accommodation in the more than 2 weeks travelling in Nicaragua. Everything was just perfect. The location (one of the small islands -Isletas- on a 15 min boat trip away from Granada with only 4 other huts), the design (beautiful colors and functionality), the staff (during the afternoon/evening good English and very kind/helpful), delicious and super tasteful food, free kayaks, internet was sometimes weak and sometimes ok (less in the rooms). We only missed the yoga teacher (the deck is there) and a water cooker/fridge in the room (but the staff was willing to store goods for us!). This is definitely the place to go back for 2 or 3 days when you want to relax, read and swim around this very small island ;-)

This hotel is amazing! Sailing out to your own private island on their private boat by Henri, welcomed by Pablo with a complementary drink on your arrival, eating dinner in a thatched outdoor restaurant and staying in a luxury treehouse! The views are incredible over Mombacho volcano and the service is lovely. Highly recommend this hotel.
