Inn at Moonlight Beach

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for three nights over Presidents Day weekend. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the grounds and gardens are full of little surprises. We especially liked sitting on our porch watching the sun set. It is also within walking distance of the beach and many Encinitas restaurants. The staff is very responsive and accommodating and we couldn’t imagine a better place to stay in this area, particularly for those who prefer a smaller more intimate experience. We look forward to returning especially after COVID restrictions when we can enjoy all that the Inn has to offer. Highly recommended.

It was amazing!! I slept like a baby from how silent and calm the environment was. The room was very beautiful. The people here were also very caring and I do not have one single bad thing to say about the service because it was perfect! One of the best get away places.

This is a unique bed and breakfast with a major emphasis on wellness and self-care. It as a “Zen” feel about it. Beyond the spa treatments, meditation and yoga that are officered other places, you are encouraged to pick from the small, onsite organic garden. There is a place for rock painting and selecting from a nursey of small plants for you to take home. There is herbal tea and small snacks in the afternoon instead of the wine and cheese offered at many other bed and breakfasts. The breakfasts of muffins, fruit, boiled eggs and overnight oats delivered to your room were excellent. The staff is exceptionally nice and very helpful. While we did not take advantage of all the offerings, we had a pleasant and restful stay. A few caveats, though. The Inn is very near a railway and the Encinitas station is two-three blocks away. The Inn has done a good job of sound insulation, including triple-pane windows. Nonetheless, we heard the train whistles and some railway noise, especially the express trains warning passengers at the station to step back. It was fine with the deck door closed but sometimes loud with the door open or on the deck. It did not interrupt our sleep, and they provided ear plugs if you needed them. Our room was large and comfortable. The website pictures, however, were a bit misleading. The pictures were taken on a bright, sunny day. The weather during our stay was mostly cloudy, so the Inn was much darker than it appeared in the pictures. The pictures were also taken before a modification to at least our room (Sage). The in-wall heater/air conditioner was replaced with a floor model in the corner vented to the outside. As a result, the couch/pull-out bed protruded into the deck door area and left only about half of the door width for going in and out. It also lessened the aesthetic appeal of the room. In our view, the room should have had a shorter couch and sacrificed the pull-out bed.
