White Donkey Hotel

Beautiful location, great rooms and lovely pool. Good points- Hotel is immaculate and has stunning views, front of house staff are friendly and professional ! Rooms are spacious with private balcony’s The view from the pool area is outstanding with ample sun loungers. Transport to the beach is provided from the hotel. Not so good points- Rooms would benefit from additional power outlets Wardrobe door couldn’t be opened fully because of sofa being slightly to large, this could not be repositioned because of a wall. Balcony area on upper rooms had no sun shades, so unusable in the day. Breakfast is minimal. Evening meal ( kindest statement would be eat elsewhere) pool area needs more sunshades. The hotel is relatively new so I’m sure these things will be put right. Would we stay again? Absolutely!!!

what an amazing find! The White Donkey Hotel was just beautiful. Boris, Irene and Georgia couldn't have been more helpful during our stay. Food was great, rooms really lovely and comfortable and the location looking out across the sea and mountains just stunning. We wanted to go somewhere tranquil and this was perfect. Lovely beach club nearby. The hotel also helped us rent a car to explore. would highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

OK. Listen in. This is important information if you are thinking about having a wonderful and unforgettable holiday in the Peloponnese Peninsula (Kalamata region) . My wife and I travel a lot and we know an excellent holiday hotel when we see it, and this is it. Tucked away in the Olive tree forested hills above Chrani, sits The White Donkey Hotel. Beautifully designed, built, owned and managed by Boris, it has everything a happy holiday needs. Stunning views across the huge Messenian Gulf, fantastic food (well done Gregory), motorbikes, boat rental, car rental, a secluded beach in Chrani, a fantastic wine selection, a gorgeous infinity pool and all day Sun. And they have their own olive oil. Boris's team are hard working, well trained, friendly, humorous and knowledgeable with a 'nothing is too much bother' attitude. Just some of the team are Georgia, Danae, Sonia and Zim (apologies for any incorrect spelling), but all of the team are worth all the plaudits too. What makes the holiday extra special is the hotel's focus on sustainability which in these times, is very important to the avid traveller. This hotel is wonderfully relaxing, different, exceptionally well presented and deserves a visit!

The white donkey is far more than a Boutique Hotel. In fact, the overused "Boutique Hotel" would attract the wrong kind of guest to this special place. The words that come to mind when I think of White Donkey are; tasteful, understated, considered, calm, peaceful, unique, and truly wonderful. Amongst all those words the design, build and operation of the hotel takes into consideration the environment. The breath taking view from the entrance and the pool are the hub of the hotel and make you feel you have arrived in another world. We had a sea view suite with an incredible terrace. The beds, pillows and bedding are all very comfortable and high quality. No need to bring any bath products as the ones provided are wonderful and refillable !! Want bathrobes - these can be provided in your room at request - another nod to the environment. The gardens and paths to the rooms are planted with herbs, citrus trees and local grasses, the smell is intoxicating. I've never seen rosemary hedges before. Water is provided by the means of an osmosis filter for drinking and the pool. How wonderful to fill glass bottles rather than plastic ones that get thrown out. The breakfast provided is outstanding, I am a breakfast person and if anything, I would say there is almost too much to choose from! Coffee!!!! at last a hotel that allows guests to make their own espressos, latte's etc by providing a commercial Nespresso machine and a huge selection of pods. I am so used to having to ask for coffee to be made and paid for in all hotels. This is something other hotels could learn especially those that insist on flasks of filter coffee. The a la carte lunch by the pool is great value and of exceptional quality. I'd highly recommend going for the half board option that includes dinner for only 20 Euros each! the price made me think it may not be good. It was excellent and I can't see how the quality, quantity and choice could be provided for such a price. The main course and dessert need to be chosen at breakfast to avoid waste. Excellent local wine list again at a very reasonable price. The team that works in the hotel have clearly been handpicked and make for a truly exceptional level of discreet service. We used the shuttle provided to take us to the beach where sun beds and parasols are provided for free, the same ones as are around the pool. This is not a hotel for loud, brash folk that want to parade around in their holiday attire. It’s quiet, discreet, and tasteful. I needed a break to recharge my batteries and its exactly what I got. Ten days was just enough, would have liked to stay longer. Worth letting the hotel arrange car hire as there are some wonderful places to visit. We visited with 3 teens and stayed a week. We had a great time with excellent personal service. This boutique hotel has fabulous views and a beautiful pool and restaurant area. The service was fabulous and far better than the large 5* hotels. Georgia and Adrianna in reception really looked our every need. No question is too much. Boris the owner picked us up personally from restaurants in town and came to fix our telescope when it was not working - a lovely feature in the rooms. There are donkeys, chickens, vines and olive trees in the grounds. Typically Greek. Plenty of great places to visit in the area and some fabulous beaches and restaurants a short drive. Our teens loved gyros in Billy’s place - couldn’t get enough for 3Euros each. The hotel run a shuttle service to beaches but one down side is you really need a car for trips and evening restaurants. No restaurants in real walking distance. Suggestions for hotel would be a restaurant taxi service for the evenings and an outside table tennis table and gym for some more activity - this seems to be started but not complete. The car hire company they use was also a little unreliable so would recommend they switch. Overall a wonderful stay.

Greatest view, beautiful design, spacious rooms. A bit isolated but if you’re looking for peace and tranquility, that’s the place. Nice vibe, good service and helpfull staff. And the most wonderful host. Thank you, Georgia, you were very helpfull.
