Grand Hotel

Stayed here for two nights on an Intrepid Travel Tour of South India. Lovely hotel with Art Deco vibes especially in reception and restaurant. Good Location. Rooms are a little dated but perfectly fine and clean. Nice food in restaurant. Comfortable and fairly lively Bar. Very pleasant staff. Recommended.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. It was a bit dated but it was clean and comfortable. We were upgraded from a standard room to an executive room. The room faced a busy street and the metro too. We thought it would be noisy, being an old hotel but they’ve upgraded their windows so you didn’t get outside noise. The room was large and had a king size bed. It had tea and coffee making supplies, a hair dryer, a safe and an ironing board and maybe an iron. The bed had nice linens. The bathroom was large too. They need a towel rack in the bathroom beside the sink, not just behind the door. Our room was on the 3rd floor and on the floor above, they had a nightclub or something. One night they had karaoke and another night, they had a disco or something. It was loud enough to be annoying but it didn’t go too late into the night so we just tuned it out.

The Grand Hotel offered spacious rooms with a comfortable mattresses and a powerful shower with plenty of hot water. While clean the sheets on my bed were showing signs of age and were starting to fray. The air conditioning worked well and kept the room cool. The inclusive buffet breakfast had a good range of options including Indian and continental choices. We particularly enjoyed the bar which was lively and welcoming. The hotel was centrally place to explore the down town area and a ferry service offered easy access to the historic Fort area, although if visiting Kochi again I would choose to stay in the historic area instead.

One of oldest hotels in kochi from 1960 Went to the restaurant for having dinner with friends tried out the most famous karimeen pollichathu with the suriyani fish curry , kids tried rice noodles and steaks tried out a kingfisher beer after long time , the alcohol and food slices by 11 pm

While dated, the hotel was built more than a half-century ago, rooms reflect the care that era afforded guests. My room was surprisingly large with a separate low table and lounge chairs. I liked the non-slip tile panel in the shower, an unheard of safety feature in Indian hotels I stayed at. The niche for the coffee maker was comfortably placed at chest level separate from the desk. Usually the desk is crowded with the hot water, kettle, phone, water bottles and the like, limiting the available work space. Not so here. The restaurant is famed for the biriyani and very popular with local residents despite a higher pricing. Overall I had a very pleasant stay.

Beautiful family owned art deco hotel in the heart of Ernakulam and only a short tuk tuk ride away from the boat jetty to Fort Cochin. The staff was polite and attentive but the restaurant was the highlight serving amazing food from an extensive menu. Our room was spacious and well appointed, and although it faced the main road, the sound proofing was incredible.
