It’s a lovely riad with friendly staff. Natural light comes through from the glass ceiling. Our room was spacious and comfy. The breakfast included fresh strawberries, selection of pastries/bread topped with freshly squeezed orange juice was sublime.

I just love Essouira! From the people, food, hotels and everything. Mumtaz Mahal was such a fabulous hotel i have ever stayed. Full of charms! Clean and quiet. Magical India touch. Guys go there please.

I am reviewing the hammam experience which was truly awful. Not friendly service, there were 3 girls speaking loudly in their language and laughing in front of us, no respect towards the clients whatsoever. With the faces that they really hate their job they threw water over us. Short and indifferent scrub, something they just have to get done with. We were left very disappointed. Never would I go back there, for the service they offered it was totally overpriced. Not recommended.

Not sure what the previous reviews are all about - this is a wonderful Riad close to everything. Beautiful rooms and friendly staff. Beds very comfortable and everything is very clean. We had a wonderful breakfast today with so much food! Highly recommend!

We both went for a spa. Didn’t stay there. It was impulsively booked after seeing it advertised in the street. I then read the reviews!! However it wasn’t that bad at all. We did have to wait 20 minutes but got free mint tea while we waited. The facilities were clean and opulent. The lady who did both the hamman and massage was pleasant and welcoming. It wasn’t the most vigorous I’ve had but decent enough. My partner had the manicure and was very pleased with it.

DON’T BE FOOLED BYTHE FAKE GLOWING REVIEWS WRITTEN BY STAFF RELATIVES OR BOTS. It's a total rip-off. The room was dirty and smelled terrible (at some point we checked for dead rats), the internet never worked, and most of the staff were very rude. The spa was a joke – we waited an hour for our pre-booked appointment and they didn’t even apologise or offer us a drink. The treatment place was shared with multiple people and there were no showers or changing rooms offered. They are a stingy penny-pinchers and they would charge you for the air you breathe in if they could. Especially this old woman (managing the place) never made us feel welcomed, she has no idea of customer service. There are countless other, much better options in this area. This place is cold and miserable that deserves to be forgotten.

Horrible riad, very rude and arrogant old woman that has no idea how to run a business making guests run away. Smelly room, wifi doesnt work, they don't respect you, no welcome drink, waited hours to use spa facilities, told us card machine doesnt work so only cash payments etc etc... RUN AWAY FROM THIS DODGY PLACE!!!!!

We did not use the hotel but did the spa. A total waste of money!!! The location is beautiful but the therapists are not competent. I had a tonique massage and eyebrow wax. The massage was terribly painful, quick, and noisy. I had to do the eyebrow again in the spa next door (even cheaper). clearly the lady did not know what she was doing. My husband asked at the reception if the visage massage included the head massage which was what he went for, the lady said it was included but once in the spa unfortunately no head was touched. Additionally when we finished our treatments we realized we were 6 people together in the same room which we did not know. In fact I could not even relaxed by the noises all around me for the hour I spent in. I am a resident, and it’s a pity all the above because the riad is really beautiful and it could have been a relaxing retreat for my treatments in Essaouira.
