Villa Maroc Essaouira recensioner

We really loved this riad - with its coastal vibe and beautiful view over the sea - and would definitely recommend it. We were lucky enough to have two rooms just off of the roof terrace, and as the riad was quite quiet, we felt like we had a terrace to ourselves at times. The view was beautiful at all times of day - and although you can't see the sun set directly from it, the city walls reflect the sunset and the colours are beautiful. We were in the town at a very busy time - when everyone leaves Marrakech for some cooler weather - and to have such a peaceful place to stay amongst that busy-ness was just ideal. Staff were wonderful, food was fantastic (we ate in one night) and we also enjoyed a small amount of time at the sister property.

An outstanding hotel- unique Moroccan charm in a fabulous location. The pool at the Jardins is not to be missed. A perfect place to stay for soaking up culture and getting a great dose of relaxing. This was our second visit and we are already planning our return! Thank you Villa Maroc!

The friendly staff and cleanliness were top class. We were brilliantly assisted with recommendations for restaurants, taxis and entertainment throughout our stay. All this for half the price of anywhere else in Europe! We will be back!

I love the magical feeling I get when I am in this riad. The staff is attentive and the food is wonderful (Chef Hayat makes a delicious Couscous Royal). The rooms are very comfortable and each is unique. The décor is beautiful. This is my second visit — and I hope not my last.

The hotel is really nice, the location is perfect, the breakfast is really simple and good and the roof top has a beautiful view... the only problem was that the first night we had in our room the same fish smell that you can find in the famous fish market of Essauira. I wasn't able to understand if it was the first time it happened or if the there is a problem with the Essauira sewer and the hotel..

We stayed here with another couple. Very central and easy to walk everywhere. Essaouira is a lovely town, with old ramparts, lots of markets and stalls and beautiful buildings. Villa Maroc itself is very characterful - a traditional riad, which does mean many stairs and no lift! However the staff were very helpful at taking our luggage up to our room for us. The hotel has a great roof terrace which lovely views. Breakfast is served here every day. Also a good place for drinks. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but had great meals at La Table de Madada and Umia - try both, they’re fab and a short walk away. Slight disappointment was that we’d booked sea view suites (made the booking some 9 months before going). We were given room 1, which had a sea view if you craned your neck! It is also right beside the clock tower so we were treated to loud chimes on the hour and half hour. Our friends had room 22 - this had views over a roof top and a tiny glimpse of the sea if you were lucky. I wouldn’t recommend you stay in either. We were told by 3 different members of staff that all sea view suites are different and that they’d try to move us to better ones. Nobody came back to us about this so we stayed put. Make sure you specify when you book that you want a proper sea view!! We had a nice time In Essaouira but would have liked better rooms, given how far ahead we’d booked.

Villa Maroc is a delightful place to stay in Essaouira. The hotel is something of a hotch-potch having been formed out of more than one building but as you ascend from the serviceable, if unimpressive, reception area its charming nature is revealed. As well as a fine open courtyard stretching the full height of the building there are sitting rooms tucked away here and there, most with open fireplaces lit, on colder days and in the evenings making for cosy places to sit and read, play board games or have have a drink or meal in. Our bedroom was perfectly well furnished, very comfortable with a fine view and the terrace above, again with enchanting nooks and crannies, made for a splendid place to have breakfast. The owner, Cornelia, came round every morning to chat to her guests and clearly had everything under control. Her staff were hard-working, cheerful and attentive and looked after us beautifully. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here.

Villa Maroc is beautifully presented but unfortunately not a great location if you value your sleep or cleanliness which is unfortunate as it has so much potential. It feels like perhaps it was once fabulous but is now in need of a bit of an overhaul with regard to a good solid scrub. At breakfast we were given a dirty plate that had egg on it, which was very off putting. There were many other items but perhaps it’s just difficult to find team members and they were doing their best.

From the moment we walked through the front door we knew we'd arrived somewhere very special. The warm friendly greeting, the beautifully styled decor, and easy sense of calm throughout was enchanting. Every member of the Villa Maroc team we encountered was attentive and kind. Our cosy room was elegantly furnished, with a very comfortable bed. The view from the roof top terrace was a delight, day and night. Can't recommend this wonderful hotel highly enough. We're already planning our return visit.

What a treat! Everything perfect. Great location. Excellent taste. Everything cosy and elegant. Charming and comfortable bedroom. Perfectly clean. Excellent food, and - wow - dinner served in a beautiful séparé just for the two of us. Breakfast on the terrace roof overlooking the sea. What else...

Could not rate this hotel more highly. It is beautifully decorated, the rooms are spacious, the view from the rooftop terrace is beautiful and the staff were really friendly. There are gorgeous nooks and spaces to hang out in or have dinner.

Had an amazing experience at this riad! The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location is close to many important spots. I want to give special thanks to the staff member Hassan, who was extremely helpful and made sure I had everything I needed with a smile and excellent service. Thank you for the warm hospitality – I’ll definitely be back in the future

Exceptional is the word to describe our experience at Villa Maroc! The riad is authentic and perfect in it’s decor, furnishing and food with all the amenities of a five star hotel in a wonderful location. However, for us it was the staff who made it exceptional. When our hire car burst a tyre 20 kms from Essouaira with no spare, an off duty member of staff drove my husband back to the car and arranged a replacement tyre. Thanks to his help, we had an amazing holiday. We highly recommend this beautiful hotel.
