The best hotel in Evora

Wow, What a charming hotel! So many lovely lounge areas inside and outside with nice views of the garden and Wall. Great pool to relax after a long day of walking. Room are clean and staff is all very nice. Good selection for breakfast buffet. Look out for the peacock in the garden!

This was our final stay on our self guided Portugal Nature trails bike trip . The location was centrally located to see everything in Evora. This was the largest hotel on our trip and I am afraid I did not like the 100s of people that seemed to be at breakfast. We had nice suites but the staff at the desk were not helpful . They had no black tea at breakfast and since we were there another night I brought it up. No help! Lots of wonderful restaurants nearby.

We stayed here one night as part of a Gate One Portugal Tour, this was by far the worst night of the vacation. We arrived at the place wet to the bone because tour buses are not allowed to enter the city, we had to walk approx. half a mile in the rain. This is not the fault of the hotel, but the wet luggage that they transported from the bus by the hotel was (the bags must've been left in the rain during transport). On to the stay. Rooms are in need of cleaning and updating, they are on the dingy side. We ate dinner and breakfast here, both meals were mediocre at best. Both were buffets, neither having adequate selections or anything very tasty. Our advice to Gate One: skip this one completely!

Out of date hotel, AC didn’t work, lamps bulbs burned, really a disaster place to stay. Stayed with a GATE 1 group. Hope that GATE 1 look for another option in the future. Breakfast was ok but a lot of items were not available or replaced. The cafeteria attendants didn’t care about replacing them.

Never again! I stayed there for 2 nights on a business trip. The 4* stars they advertise on their website are a thing of the past. Nowadays, it's not 4* at all. Poor service, room with no amenities, no room service, air conditioning that can't be adjusted, not soundproofed and VERY noisy. A hotel that caters for groups, even school-leaving trips. They hosted a huge group of highschool students who created havoc while I was stying there. The only good thing about this hotel was the staff. For the rest, it practises misleading advertising. I don't recommend it.

The accommodations are very nice, which includes an underground parking area. What we really appreciated was the staff there. Not only were they polite and professional, but very nice. I had mad a mistake on my reservations and they were able to take some steps to take care of us. I highly recommend this hotel.

I was in the hotel for 3 days and was trying to use the swimming pool. Unfortunately, i didn't feel safe. The swimming pool filtering system was off for the 3 days i stayed in. Unsafe water. We spoke 2 times at reception, and nothing was done. Not safe for child

Our one night here was very pleasant. The hotel is just inside the old walls, near a city gate, and stretches out linearly with a grassy lawn and garden that backs up to the walls. Our room was spacious and clean, with a little balcony overlooking the lawn. In early May, it was just too cool to want to swim in the pool, but in hot weather it would be a lovely perk. We did enjoy sitting on the terrace and watching the peacock wander around. It’s easy to find your way to the center of town from here. We were able to drop our bags when we arrived too early for check-in, and the staff were pleasant to deal with.

This is a former convent, now a very nice hotel. It's within the city walls of Evora, and I had a lovely view of the walls from my room. Large, comfortable room, with good wifi and English language TV. Not far to walk to the town centre. Good breakfast.

The M’Ar De Ar hotel has decor like it’s ancient surroundings. The common areas have a contemporary vibe and there is a lounge and pool area in the back of the hotel. The rooms have tile floors to blend in with the outside grounds, and the bathrooms are completely marble/stone all over. The hotel is located down the street from the popular Giraldo Square, which features many places to eat, grab coffee or shop. If you are looking for a spot to stay in Evora, the M’AR De Ar is a good place to stay.

Spacious, clean rooms that are very comfortable. We were lucky to get a patio. The hotel is quite pretty and includes a bar and restaurant. The pool area is lovely and the resident peacock entertaining. Staff are very helpful and speak a multitude of languages.

Location is excellent. Room clean and tidy. Peaceful outlook to rear garden/city walls. Only issue some of the electricity sockets fused. Friendly staff put that right straight away. Lunches excellent value and tasty. Staff friendly and helpful.
