On Monday, July 17th, 2023, I had what might be my stepdad's last visit to Pala Mesa Resort, and it turned into a complete disaster. You see, my stepdad introduced me to this place back in 2000, and since then, it has been my favorite getaway for golfing. We used to visit frequently, enjoying the kind and friendly staff who were always helpful. But this time, everything went downhill. We started our golf round at 9:10 AM, but the weather was scorching hot, and my stepdad couldn't keep up due to his illness. He tried to enjoy the day, reminiscing about his time as a professional caddy for Herman Keizer, but the heat got the best of him, and we had to call it quits after just five holes. Wanting to escape the unbearable heat, I went to the front desk to see if we could check into our room earlier than the designated 4 PM time. My poor stepdad was exhausted, and I was willing to pay the extra fee for early check-in. But you won't believe what happened next – they flat out refused, despite the resort not being busy at all. Can you imagine the insensitivity? I pleaded with them, explaining that this visit was significant for us as it was my stepdad's way of saying goodbye to a place he cherished deeply. He's 84 years old, for crying out loud, and battling illness. But did they care? No. The manager got involved, and still, they wouldn't budge, sticking rigidly to their 4 PM check-in policy. It's appalling how Pala Mesa Resort treats its loyal customers. There was even an option to pay extra for early check-in, but they don't honor it when you need it the most. Loyalty is a forgotten concept to them. This was supposed to be a meaningful final trip for my stepdad, but instead, it turned into an emotionally draining ordeal, all thanks to the heartless staff at Pala Mesa Resort. I'll think twice before ever recommending this place to anyone again.
