Algilà Fes Riad Medina Charme Hotel

Beautiful riad hotel in the Medina. Lovely decorations and staff. WiFi was quite slow.

We visited recently as part of my 50th birthday celebrations for a couple of nights! We would highly recommend this Riad for the warmth, friendliness of staff. The property itself is breathtakingly beautiful, like stepping back in time. The staff do a lot in maintaining a great atmosphere. They were so helpful they even helped transport our luggage to our next Riad at the other end of Fez. It was during Ramadan too making the service even more impressive. There were a couple of bumps along the way including a miscommunication regarding the rooftop and no birthday acknowledgement or surprise to my knowledge even though it was my 50th birthday but the location, beauty and good intentions of the staff made up for those disappointments. A lovely start to our trip to Fez! Also beware that taxi drivers may not be familiar with the location so you should liaise with the riad to ensure a stress free arrival even if you have paid for a transfer Moroccans have very patchy knowledge of what Riads are in Fez even the famous ones!

The old, cheerful entryway and the delightful reception area were enough to convince me that I was going to love my four nights in this riad. The attentive staff, along with the peppermint tea and interesting books on the artistic links between Fez and Italy, also made me feel welcome. My room had such character and I loved the small courtyard and fountain outside my door. Breakfast was served on the charming rooftop (quite a climb--more handrails needed) or in the delightful courtyard of their renovated new wing. I loved that I could walk out of this beautiful riad into the heart of this ancient medina and easily access local restaurants and a hammam/spa. Top marks to manager Ahmed and his wonderful staff for this jewel of a place.
