Silky Oaks Lodge

We spent 4 days here in November at the beginning of australia adventure. The accomodations were perfect-with the quiet balcony, hammock, tub on the deck surrounded by forest. The food was delicious and the drinks/wine paired very nicely. All of the staff were so friendly and engaging! The hike up the river to a more remote swimming hole was worth the 'challenge' and the water was crystal clear and lovely. Keep up the great work-and nice to have the "Mr & Mrs Smith" Hyatt connection for loyalty points too...

The beautiful magnitude of the staff & wondrous environmental atmosphere. I loved that so much of the property is open-air. The trees felt intertwined into the main shared guests areas and each room on-site. It felt like a natural immersion of the lush outdoor wilderness into the spectacular on-site areas. I’d also love to highlight the truly wonderful and highly professional style from every Silky Oaks Staff that I met. From the initial transfer from Port Douglas to the lodge and portering of luggage from the relaxed ways of Jason, the immediate welcoming and helpful natures of Glenn & Vanessa upon first arriving to the lodge. I regrettably can’t recall the names of the Bartender-F&B couple from Spain, but, I also had such lovely, natural interactions with them throughout the stay. The dinner service and conversations with Francisco from Italy stands as an exceptional highlight. Both Bec from Brisbane and William from Indonesia are true beacons of warmth, genuine care, and benchmarks for high-quality service. Lilly at Reception has a sensational smile and was continually caring and memorable. I’m also thankful to have met the natural and professional ways of Ben, the General Manager, on the departure transfer from the lodge back to Port Douglas. There are many examples of beautiful service and experiences as part of this stay. I highly recommend Silky Oaks because it offers a beautiful versatility in caring staff from all-over the world, tranquility in the environment, and a generous range of activities on & off-site for all experience levels. Thank you again to all staff for creating such a unique & special atmosphere for people to meaningfully enjoy the Daintree Rainforest & surrounding areas!

The lodge is nestled into the dense rainforest next to the Mossman river. It is staffed by energetic and courteous attendants (many of whom were from countries around the world) who go to great lengths to make you feel at home during meals in the open air main building and in your private room/cottage. A “happy hour” starting at 17:00, offered a “gin of the day” cocktail and wine free of charge, followed by dinner. The food paired with carefully selected wine was outstanding with new menus every day. The croc-free river offered opportunities to cool down in shallow water. Another wonderful down under experience!

Decadent, super indulgent , wonderful stay at this beautiful lodge, taken over by the Baillies. You know it will be a fabulous stay and it was. Instagram worthy meals, each one totally delectable. We loved hearing the river babbling in the background and enjoying the wonderful gin cocktails offered every night by the lovely bartender. Temperatures are lower here as you are immersed in the Rainforest but one can still take a dip in the pool or take advantage of the spa onsite. Sleep quality was excellent and the hammock on the balcony an enjoyable addition to the room.

It takes about 2 hours to get to Silky Lodge from Carins, but well worth the trip. Upon arrival, we were offered cocktails and a very cool face cloth . While freshening up and enjoying cocktail , we are given outline of activities , experiences and amenities. Then shown to our room/suite called a tree house. The tree house was very nicely appointed, very comfortable bed, large bathroom with a large walk-in shower and an extremely large freestanding tub. Both the tub and shower were somewhat outside but very private/secluded. There is an extensive coffee/tea bar with liquor, wine. Snacks all of which are replenished daily. Each of the individual cabins are separated from each other to give complete. Privacy. All the meals were delicious, diverse, many to choose from as well as different wine pairing. The meals were served out on a deck sticking out into jungle hanging over the river. Hearing all the different animals and birds was exciting. There are a number of expenses /activities to get involved in to add to your adventure Check out was very easy and trouble free.

From the moment we arrived to the moment of leaving we were blown away by this incredible place. The stunning beauty of the natural habitat in which Silky Oaks lives is matched with the beauty of each member of staff. We are unable to single out one staff member because each individual staff member we encountered was charming, friendly, helpful & professional in an individual way, this is the charm of Silky Oaks. The public areas of the lodge take advantage of this unique environment, whilst our own lodge, Ulysses, was perfect in every possible way, with it’s outdoor bath this really did give you the wonderful sights & sounds of nature whilst luxuriating in a long bath, just perfect after our hikes & day tours. The food……..did not disappoint, it was inventive, well executed & so delicious & flavoursome, each evening was a delight. We had the wine pairing which was a great way to try Australian wines, helped by our waiter’s wine knowledge. We enjoyed an amazing trip to The GBR & had a great insight to The Daintree Rainforest with the Dream Time Tour. Also swimming in The Mossman River which Silky Oaks sits on was just steps away from the restaurant. Our stay was 5 days but myself & my husband both agreed that we could quite easily have stayed another 5………oh well……until next time Silky Oakes & all you amazing people……thank you!
