Hotel Palazzo Benci

The front desk staff are rude and unhelpful with small tasks like getting soap for the rooms. Rooms are small. Bathrooms are smaller. Given 1 towel per person for 3 days. $5 eu per towel per day if you want/need more. No hand towels. Only bidet towels which are also changed every 3 days. 1 tiny individual packet of body soap/shampoo per person. That is the only shower amenities given. So make sure to bring everything you will need! Not even hand soap available when we checked into our room (this was fixed and soap was left at the front deck for me to come down and pick up. They would not bring it up to the room.) Air conditioner will not get room below 21. The room our kids are in is at 23, that is not AC!!! Our room also smells like sewer when the room next door flushes the toilet. So many better places. I suggest spending your money elsewhere.

Great central location- we were able to walk to all locations. The hotel is across the street from the Medici Chapel and less than 5 min walk to the Duomo. Many restaurants are very close by. The train station was a 10-15 minute walk. No need for taxi or bus. All staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine- something for everyone. The room as well as the public spaces were clean/fresh. Our bed was comfortable and bath was adequate. The shower, however, was very small (I am 6’4” tall)- although it was clean and the water flow was fine. I would stay here again.

Staff were super friendly and helpful (they even posted my postcard for me). Location of the hotel is fantastic, right next to the Cappelle Medicee and San Lorenzo Church. It's also just a few minutes walking between the hotel and the tram stop or train station. There are loads of bars and restaurants nearby, also a few supermarkets. You can get everywhere on foot from this hotel. The rooms were very clean and beautiful. There are a double set of windows which were great to keep out the noise from outside. There were toiletries in the bathroom (shampoo / conditioner / shower gel, tissues, shower cap, soap). My room was pretty spacious for European standards and for me as I had booked a single room but they gave me a double. The bed was very comfy. There is a courtyard garden where you can relax and enjoy some quiet time, you can also order a drink at the bar. Breakfast was buffet style with mostly cold options. There was filter coffee but also a machine where you could choose other types of coffee. A power plug near the table / desk would have been handy. My room was just in front of the kitchen so every morning there was a bit of noise from the preparation of breakfast. And there was some noise from the hall and neighbours but that's the case in every hotel I've been. The shower door was a bit on the small side. There was a mirror above the headboard of the bed which wasn't very useful. If I visit Florence again, I will definitely stay here again.

1. The standard room i had is nothing like the pictures on their website. 2. Unable to sit properly on the toilet seat as your knees will hit the plastic wall of the shower. The shower is made of 2 very thin plastic walls in a very small bathroom. 3. The desk and desk chair back right up to the edge of the bed and the space is so tight that you can not properly sit it then chair. 4. The website states the room comes with breakfast. They fail to state this is a small continental breakfast.

Excellent stay. Very central, all attractions within walking distance. Restaurants very close and hotel very quiet despite us being street facing. 5 mins from both Railway station (for Pisa etc) and 2 mins to tram for the airport. Room and room facilities very good. Staff very helpful, pleasant and engaging. Recommended.

Great location, easy walking distance to all the major museums, welcoming reception staff. Due to gluten intolerance their gluten free provision for breakfast was excellent and very appreciated. Decent sized double overlooking the courtyard meant we were not disturbed by the traffic. However, the walls are thin, we were woken up this morning by a workman sanding paint off a wall at the end of our corridor before 8am! The bathroom smelt awful, literally like a sewer; resulting in having to hold our breath every time we needed to use the facilities. On reporting this at reception we were told it was a problem that affected different rooms at different times!! Another was; the plug in the shower needed to be pushed down and this would resolve the issue! Another issue we had was a couple of items going missing after the room had been cleaned. Nothing expensive just inconvenient like a contact lens case - had to improvise with two glasses at 2am! Such a shame really, we enjoyed Firenze so much.
