No where near Forio yo need to get a bus or taxi it’s on a hill with only a small supermarket and chemist across the main road The first room we were given was so far away from pools etc at 150 also looking into someone house as the owner seems to have bought up areas we were moved to 311 which was far better Watch out if you are given rooms 800 plus These are across the main road and either up a dark lane or on the main road at the bend The reception staff were rude as per other reviews The food was good The pool bar staff were really nice and friendly the lunchtime food was good as well but you couldn’t get a hot lunch after 2.30 as the kitchen closed It was cheaper to drink cocktails than vodka and tonics The owner made his presence every day and night in the restaurant There was a bus to take you town to the beach but it was quite expensive Having been in ischia town before I really wish we had gone there again just due to the proximity of all the shops and bars It was a relaxing holiday

Just totally sublime . Relaxing , friendly , pristine . Just perfect in so many ways. I stay in hotels frequently .. work and pleasure and I’d have to say this was definitely a nice surprise. Better than 5 star Barbados . I was with my son and his young family . The staff are so genuinely lovely . Nothing fake or contrived . I would have to say this is the best break I’ve had in quite a few years and I take quite a few each year . Vincenza in reception and the staff at the bar by the pool are exceptional . I never , ever go back to the same place twice .. but I would come back here ..

We booked an upgraded “Classic Double Room” to avoid cheaper rooms in the Separate Building Outside the Hotel. Upon arrival, our luggage was taken, which at first seemed like good service, but only because we had to walk 350 meters up and down steep terrain, past private houses unrelated to the hotel. Finding the way was so difficult that a staff member had to guide us – something they appeared to do for all guests. At reception we asked if there was a mistake, but were told that other rooms were even further away, while those closer to the main building were of much lower standard. This meant a 700-meter round trip not only for breakfast every morning, but also for every visit to the hotel facilities – something I would never recommend for elderly or less mobile guests. The rooms are outdated but functional, though we found mold around the air conditioning outlet. Fortunately, we only stayed a week. The view of the sea was beautiful, but that was the highlight. Pictures online match somewhat, but are clearly more flattering than reality. Mandatory swimming caps in the pool were never mentioned beforehand, and even hotel photos show guests swimming without them. Breakfast was disappointing: staff ate directly from the buffet while guests were still dining, and the coffee machine barely worked. The restaurant view was lovely, but impossible to enjoy due to the number of wasps outside. Overall, the surroundings are beautiful, but the service, facilities, and honesty in presentation fall far short of 4-star standards.

This was our second time in Ischia and our first time staying in Sorriso Terme Resort and spa and it can simply be described as paradise. It was our second wedding anniversary and the staff were extremely friendly and very professional and attentive to our needs. Our room had a fantastic sea view and was immaculate, cleaned daily to a very high standard we had all of the amenities we required for our time at the resort. The are several pools to choose from located throughout the resort and we found ourselves rotating between these daily. We were served drinks poolside from the staff who were extremely polite and professional. The food, wow. The food we had was served from the Il Tufo restaurant which itself requires it's own review. The beef was cooked to absolute perfection, tender and melted in the mouth, swordfish pasta, incredible. The daily menu is displayed at the restaurant entrance and there are several options for each course, the portions are extremely generous and the staff ensured we did not go hungry during our stay. We were provided with evening entertainment poolside on a couple of evenings which really created a fantastic atmosphere and authentic experience. The resort itself is located on a major bus route (tickets available at reception) and this made travelling the island incredibly easy, Ischia Porto? No problem. Ischia Adventure Park? No problem. The beach? Definitely no problem there as a private shuttle is provided by the hotel. There were not too many other English people at the resort and the staff were fantastic communicating which helped as my Italian is awful. The staff were very funny and extremely professional and made us feel incredibly welcome. Some of the locals that we spoke with were in agreement that Sorriso Terme is possibly if not the best hotel and spa resort on the island and we would have to agree. This is possibly Ischia's best kept secret and well worth a visit. Amazing staff ✅ Amazing views ✅ Amazing food ✅ Amazing pool ✅ Amazing experience ✅

I spent 3 nights here with a large group of Italians. After reading some of the negative reviews, I was happy to discover I'd been allocated a room in the main hotel building. Plus points: the whole place is clean and well maintained, the lobby is beautiful and the pool area full of flowers and with stunning views of the sea. Our room (607) was clean and the housekeeping lady very friendly and competent. We'd booked a double with 2 single beds, but on arrival, found a double bed. However, the problem was solved within the next half hour. The beds are comfortable and towels are changed on a daily basis. We also had a little outdoor space to sit in as well as a hanging rack for wet swimsuits etc. The room itself didn't have a sea view, but just a few steps from our seating area was a large space where you could enjoy a beautiful view. The fridge was useful. Some people criticised the fact that there's a long walk down to the beach, but for those who don't want to do this, booking a free shuttle at reception is very easy. We walked down, but got a shuttle back up. We also enjoyed relaxing in the thermal pools, including the indoor one in the spa, with various massaging water jets. The latter is obviously quite old, but I've seen much worse! The pool bar was nice with friendly staff and prices are reasonable for a hotel. When we were there, there was live music in the evening, with a dance floor. Breakfast was typically Italian, with a lot of cakes, but there were also cereals and (somewhat limited) savoury options. If you're used to good Italian food (I live in Puglia!), the regular hotel meals might be a little disappointing. I would have liked more fresh vegetables and salads, for example. I didn't try the à la carte restaurant as our group had booked half board. A bus stop just outside the hotel made visiting the island very convenient. You can buy tickets for the bus, as well as some other places to visit: we went to the lovely Giardini Mortella, at Reception. All the staff were helpful and competent, and I spent a few very enjoyable and relaxing days on this beautiful island.

I really liked both the hotel and the island. The hotel: a thermal water pool and a very nice spa center. The food was varied; every morning we received a menu where we would check off what we wanted for dinner. A very nice system—it helps avoid food waste. There was a bus that took you to the beach, but we also had the option of going down the stairs behind the hotel. The rooms were clean, and housekeeping was done daily. In front of the hotel, there was a bus stop, which made it very easy to explore the island. A wonderful place that I would love to return to.

Hotel Review: Sorriso Therma (09.06.25 – 21.06.25) I stayed at Sorriso Therma Hotel from June 9th to June 21st, 2025. Unfortunately, this hotel does not deserve its 4-star rating—maybe it did several decades ago, but certainly not in 2025. Rooms During my stay, I had to change rooms four times. Room 253: We booked a sea view room and were given room 253. The sink drain was broken, and it took three requests before a technician finally came to fix it—a classic Italian tradition, perhaps. To make matters worse, this room was located directly under the restaurant, where loud music played until 1–2 a.m. (sometimes even later, depending on the manager’s mood). Room 129: After negotiations at the reception, we were moved to room 129. It was better, but we quickly discovered an ant trail leading from the balcony into the room. After another call, the ants “understood” that their road was temporarily closed for repairs. Room 237: Since the weather and sea were great, we decided to extend our stay and booked a standard room. This time, we were “surprised” with room 237, where the plumbing didn’t work, the shower cabin barely opened, and the balcony door only opened about 30° because it hit the floor tiles. The “view” was just a wall. Room 151: After further diplomatic negotiations, we finally received room 151, which actually resembled what a 4-star room should be: a safe, a full set of towels, new plumbing, and two pillows per person. As you can see, all these issues were just about the rooms. Access to the Sea There are two options: a steep, old staircase from the hotel to the beach, or a shuttle service. The earliest shuttle to the beach is at 9:00 a.m., and the return is at 12:00 p.m. This is not convenient if you want to go earlier or come back later. Food Do not expect tasty or varied breakfast options—every day was the same, with desserts being the only highlight. We also tried the dinners, which were even worse than breakfast. If you know what good food tastes like, I recommend going to the center of Forio to eat instead. Staff Unfortunately, we had to repeat every request three times. Multiple negotiations about the rooms and constant explanations left a negative impression. There were some good staff members, especially the night shift man and a few waiters who served food. Be careful! An elderly lady staying near us was overcharged by €100 on her final bill. The situation was resolved, but no one apologized. After checkout, they also “forgot” to return our towel deposit—another €15 per person! Facilities Perhaps the only advantage of this hotel is its location and what remains of the thermal springs. The thermal pools are old and seemed to be cleaned rarely (especially the one downstairs). Half of the pool features did not work. Final Thoughts If possible, I recommend avoiding this hotel. If you decide to take the risk and stay here, keep a close eye on your bar and restaurant bills. For example, a bottle of water at dinner costs €

Absolutely fantastic place to stay! We were here for ten days. The hotel caters to your every need and request. We had a completely stress-free holiday. We particularly really enjoyed the food in the hotel. The breakfast has absolutely everything you could want. We found the lunches and dinners absolutely divine and we really enjoyed the way the menu was laid out, as it encouraged us to be spontaneous and try authentic Italian foods we have not had before. We really enjoyed the pool being 24 hrs and we had beautiful night-time swims. The pools were great and we loved Citara beach. We loved our room, it had a beautiful view over the ocean. The staff were fantastic and very helpful and organised. I would recommend this hotel 100%. Thank you for everything over the last 10 days!

GOOD - The pool. Except we got chucked out within a minute for not wearing a swim cap. We didn't know. If you were Italian the lifeguard kept you in the pool and bought you swim caps to buy from the bar. BAD - The food. How you can make Italian food tasteless and inedible is beyond imagination, but they managed it on a daily basis. One meal arrived, a souffle with cheese sauce, with a side of carrots and hot pickled onions. I kid you not. On arrival they sat us furthest away from the outside and sunset views, near the kitchens and the banging doors. We didn't realise that this table would be our table for the rest of our holiday. UGLY - Staff - very rude when finding out you're English. We were very smiley and friendly to them, trying to use as much as Italian as we knew but it was beyond hope. One example was the restaurant staff barging into my 79 year old Mum, and not even turning round to apologise. This happened more than once. I have never cried on holiday before, but cried twice here. The hotel really is full of Italian holiday makers and they couldn't be ruder either. One example being dragging our sun lounger for their family, whilst we were sitting under it! Other occasions they would swim over to you in the large pool and sit touching you until you moved. On more than one occasion. Beggars belief. We ordered 2 drinks from the pool bar, and that is what we got, the Italian guests received complimentary nuts and crisps too. I have been to Rome, Lake Garda, Venice, Sicily, Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Sardinia and have always been in love with Italy, its people and culture. Ischia managed to destroy that in 10 days. You couldn't pay me to return. Would they want me? No, I am English.

I have stayed here before in 2018 and it was exceptional but things seem to have changed. I advised the hotel i was a returning guest but they took little notice of that. Ischia is the neapolitan's territory and the island's infrastructure is really in need of serious investment to sustain the tourist season in the future. I posted cards in the hotel which never arrived in uk. I would not return to this hotel. Such a shame so much potential.
