Akademie Street Boutique Hotel

We have stayed in a lot of hotels but none have the attention to detail as Akademie and the ability to make you feel like you’re the only one in the hotel. Declan made us feel like we were at home, but we never felt like he was around haha it was the best of both worlds. The location of Akademie is great, it’s a couple of streets back from the restaurants and bars so you don’t hear any noise in the rooms or the accommodation general areas. It’s very safe, we walked around at night after dinner and back to the accommodation with no issues. The true test of a great accommodation is would you go back, absolutely yes from me! Our second visit to this fabulous hotel. Not a thing is left out here, every single detail is thought of and taken care of by Declan and his fantastic team. We had said we never like to go back in case something isn’t as good but this was even better than before. We loved every minute and will most certainly be booking again sometime in the hopefully not too distant future. This is truly a place to come and feel relaxed and at home the second you arrive.

We had a perfect stay thanks to Declan an his team who looked so well after us. The breakfast was simply gorgeous and through the whole day Declan or a member of his team was present to arrange things and to care about us. When we will come back to Franschoek the Akademie Street will be the first option on the list of places to stay.

Wow! This boutique hotel has thought of every detail. From helping us arrange our wine tour through Stellenbosch (Jordan winery picnics 10/10) to the amenities throughout, we didn’t want to leave. The hotel, the food, the staff and our room were just perfect! 100% recommend a stay here!

Easily the nicest place we stayed during our trip to South Africa. Declan and the team have done an amazing job with this place. We especially loved the pre-dinner drinks on offer each night. Everyone involved in Akademie was extremely friendly and really helped make our stay feel special. The breakfast offering was first class and sets you up for a full day of exploring the vineyards close by. Location is ideal just off the Main Street and within walking distance of a host of great restaurants.

It's very difficult writing this review without repeating the many accolades already mentioned in previous reviews. Like many others we have had the means and privilege to travel extensively throughout the world and have stayed in some great hotels and others not quite so great. Staying at the Akademie was most certainly in the category of the 'great hotels' Declan and his team's service is exemplary of 'great service' nothing was too much trouble and every little detail is taken care of for the guests to have a fantastic stay, the rooms are amazing as is the rest of the hotel from the orangery to the pool, to the reading room without repeating myself to the whole hotel and grounds. Breakfast was yet again amazing and set you up to the day, the team asked us about dinner plans for each evening which we left for them to book for us taking note of our preferences for style of dining i.e. casual, fine dining - on all 4 nights they picked the perfect restaurants for us. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel you will not be disappointed in fact was quite jealous on our last day with the new guests arriving, we will go back in a heartbeat
