La Palazzetta Del Vescovo

My husband and I spent 8 magical days at La Palazzetta del Vescovo in October of 2023 and our only regret is that we did not stay longer. If you’ve read some of the other reviews you already know that this is a place of unbelievable beauty and tranquility. They did not exaggerate whatsoever. It is owned and lovingly run by a fascinating couple, Stefano and Paola who are attentive to every detail that might affect their guests. It is rare to see the level of professionalism these two bring while still maintaining a welcoming, comfortable, and warm atmosphere. Our large, well-appointed room was so comfortable and lovely, scrupulously clean, with spectacular views. I cannot think of a single thing it lacked. We started each day with a scrumptious breakfast featuring wonderful fresh local produce and pastries, with eggs and beverages cooked to order. Then, armed with advice from Stefano, frequently peppered by his dry wit, we would head off to explore one of the fascinating towns within easy driving reach. Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi, Orvieto, Spoleto, Spello, and many others are within 30 to 60 minutes driving time. After a day spent in exploration, it was absolute heaven to return each day to La Palazetta, to enjoy a snack from the afternoon buffet of pastries, fruits, and drinks while relaxing at the pool. For the 95% of the guests who typically opt to enjoy their evening meal on the premises (I can only assume the other 5% are poor decision makers), the highlight of the day began each evening at 7:30 when Stefano rang the bell, indicating the beginning of the time for aperitivo, a half hour spent enjoying a drink and small appetizers while becoming friends with the rest of the guests of the hotel who hailed from all over the world. At 8pm dinner commenced, prepared by Paola who is a wonderful chef. In this country of marvelous food at every turn, none was better than the meals presented by Paola. This is not just a great place to stay. This is an experience. La Palazzetta del Vescovo is simply perfect.

La Palazzetta Del Vescovo is the most beautiful of boutique hotels nestled in the Umbrian Hills of Italy. The vistas from the hotel perch is incredibly panoramic and while there in October 2023, every day was warm and enchanting. The food is impeccable and prepared by Paola (one of the owners of a husband-wife team) while Stefano is an expert sommelier and offers excellent wines, many of which are local. The room we stayed in was decadent and everything about La Palazzetta Del Vescovo is high quality including the staff that work with Paola and Stefano. The beauty that surrounds the property is breathtaking and the beauty of the interior is equally so. An amazing location close to the hilltop town of Todi - wonderful and serene!!

We came here for our honeymoon. La Palazetta is flawless, with every small detail well considered. The rooms are lovely and comfortable and Paola’s food was spectacular. The grounds are stunning and we both left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Would 1000% recommend to anyone travelling this way.

A wonderful two night stay. Beautiful property, setting, hosts and most of all food. Delightful aperitifs and wonderful four course dinners with really interesting and delicious wine recommendations.

We recently stayed at La Palazzetta del Vescovo for 4 nights and it was a great experience. The location in Umbria is great. The property is absolutely beautiful. The rooms were exceptional, spacious, clean and quiet. All of the breakfasts and dinners were delicious! Paola is a great cook! It was a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and we were made to feel welcome as soon as we stepped in the front door. Communication with Stefano, right from the start, was very easy. Stefano and Paola are wonderful hosts. Thank you, to both of you, your personal touch made us feel special. Thank you for the great conversation. All of the staff is excellent. In all of our travels in Italy, La Palazzetta is at the top of our list. Don’t miss this stay. We would love to return. Highly recommend!

When entering the majestic gates of “La Palazetta del Vescovo”– a former small palace of an Italian bishop’s seat – you not only feel welcome, you immediately feel at home. A great part of this feeling has to do with Stefano, the landlord. He has the ability to treat his guests with true interest in who they are and where they come from, far away from the superficial phrases you might know from other places. This will last from the first to the very last day of your stay and from breakfast till dinner. Stefano is always present and helpful in a very distinct way, e.g. when you need a recommendation where to spend the day or which wine accompanies best your choice of food. This takes us to the other – and sorry Stefano – at least equal important part – his wonderful wife Paola. She masters La Palazetta’s fine cuisine like a star chef concerning the taste and the quality of the various menues combined with a very unassuming and warm-hearted personality when she enters your table after dinner to have a little chat with you. The spacious yet cosy rooms are stylishly furnished and have a wonderful view oft he Umbrian hills. So we where first very astonished that folks from all over the world and from very nice places like the bay area or New York are frequent guests at “La Palazetta”, returning year after year. But at the end of our first evening we knew, why… It was for sure not our last visit at “La Palazetta”.
