I came back to Stafford lodge this year with Bea Adventurous on a cultural immersion tour of Freetown. Sierra Leone might well be a third world country, but with the country now at peace after the Civil War it is well worth a trip for those looking to explore a new culture, learn about its incredible history and the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. The hotel is run by Doree a d her team and if you’re looking for a safe hotel in Freetown, at a reasonable price, this is the place to come. The hotel has come on leaps and bounds since my last visit despite the tough economic conditions of this country. Westerners have very different expectations hotels that they stay in across the world and I think that Dory and her amazing staff are doing an incredible job at encouraging tourism was making you feel safe and secure. The rooms are really comfortable with air-conditioning, hot showers and there’s always a cold beer and nice food. The hotel is central and offers transport in and around the city. Be brave and come and visit! This is definitely the place to stay in Freetown. cold beer in the fridge.

I had a wonderful three night stay at Stafford Lodge and was made to feel incredibly comfortable and welcome. My room was clean, safe, secure and comfortable, the staff were always on hand, friendly and willing to go the extra mile. They went above and beyond to provide information to make my exploration of Freetown even more interesting! I would go back to Stafford Lodge in a flash if I ever go back to Sierra Leone!

This is just the best place to stay in Sierra Leone. All the staff are really great and the place is very comfortable. In addition to the hotel, Dori, the joint owner, arranged our 16 night tour around Sierra Leone and provided a driver and full time guide. The whole trip was flawless from being collected at the airport by the Aberdeen water taxi rep. Dori and her husband Desmond ensured all trip details were perfectly arranged. Suleiman, her brother in law was our driver for 2 weeks and Bassie was our guide. Bassie was passionate about his country and explained the history so well. Sierra Leone while being a poor country is so interesting and has so much history. We would definitely recommend Dori's travel company, Salone Hidden Gems, to organise your trip to Sierra Leone. We completely recommend the entire team at Stafford Lodge as just perfect.

Welcome home...from the moment you're met at the ferry you'll feel like family. I can't say enough about this place. Dori, Desmond and their team are simply amazing. Whether you're there for a getaway or a Homecoming Ceremony or you have business in the area The Stafford Lodge is the place to stay. Comfortable rooms with breakfast included- you can't beat the price! There's always a welcoming smile waiting to greet you. If you are there to explore, Dori's Salone Hidden Gems, offers tours to all the places you need to see. There is a restaurant, as well as a bar, onsite that offers a true taste of local food. Don't hesitate to try the Groundnut Stew or the Cassava Leaf, you'd be hard pressed to find a better version anywhere! The location is excellent as well. Close to the beaches and bustling downtown markets in one direction and out to Waterloo and the provinces in the other. Look no further The Stafford Lodge offers the best Freetown experience!!!...Photos are from my first trip.

Excellent service. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. I definitely recommend this place. The owners take exceptional care to tend to guests! Helped me arrange transportation. I will stay here again. Thanks again to the staff and team for making my visit to Sierra Leone a pleasant one. I will be back!

Stafford Lodge is home away from home? The staff is amazing!! They were very accommodating and interactive!! I learned so much about the history of Freetown from their tours…especially the Bunch Island tour!! You must take this tour!! Also, the photographer took awesome pictures as we toured the city and villages! The Lodge is in a great location from major attractions. The view was breathtaking as I sat on the balcony relaxing. I would definitely stay here again!! Thanks Dori, Desmond and staff for welcoming me!! I truly appreciate it!!

Having had a wonderful stay here in 2022 I decided to return again this year along with a group of friends. The welcome was just as warm as I remembered it, the aircon just as cold and the bed just as comfortable. As well as staying with Dori, we also used Dori’s tour services: Salone Hidden Gems. She helped me plan a really great 4 day itinerary for my guests and me which included a city tour, a cooking class, a history tour and time on the beach amongst other things. What made the stay special though were the small touches. The gift bag upon arrival, dinner on the first night, staff that couldn’t do enough for us, arranging the money exchange man to meet us at the hotel, bottles of wine, and lifts here there and everywhere. Dori and her team at Stafford Lodge are a real gem and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when in Freetown!

Stafford Lodge is home away from home! Each staff and cook were professional and friendly, and although I ddidn't know them, they felt like family. The food was AMAZING, the rooms were COMFORTABLE, and customer service was EXCELLENT!To the owners, Desmond and Dori, thank you for being a part of my first visit to the Mother Land (beautiful Salone); the hospitality was unmatched, and I had a great time. Take care and with God's grace, I will definitely return.
