Holiday Inn Express & Suites Birmingham North - Fultondale

I’m very sad on how I was treated today by the Gm at holiday inn express in Fultondale Alabama. I was appalled by the customer service that I received. I pray that they do better. I work for IHG and Our GM is wonderful. He would have never spoke to a guest the way I was talked to. I cancelled my reservation for this location. No one could pay me to stay there. I booked through someone else. I will pay for good customer service

Very pleased with our stay here. We had a very clean room. There is lots of parking. The hotel is in a safe area and right off the highway. Very centrally located to lots of attractions we went to. The heated pool was a big hit with the kids as it was chilly out.

Clean,quiet,slept great,decent breakfast,good service.What is there not to like.Was in town for a baseball tournament.There was plenty of parking but could use some bigger spots because we were in a school bus.Check in went very smooth.

Stayed here recently on points as a Diamond Elite Member. Stay almost exclusively with IHG properties. Upon check in I was told they would put a hold on incidentals for my stay (common practice.. I’m also a lifetime Ambassador member with Marriott Hotels) So far there is no issue.. I handed them a corporate card and have done this many times. It’s a temporary hold and my company had no issue with this as it’s not a charge and nothing is being charged to my card. I was told they could NOT do that. I was a little taken back and explained I do this all the time and would be happy to call my boss. Instead .. the manager came out and literally.. I kid not.. accused me of committing fraud. Are you kidding me? I stay at IHG hotels roughly 200 nights a year. You’re going to accuse me of committing a felony when I even said they call my boss lol. Unbelievable. I won’t be staying with IHG properties again. Edit: I now see claims of racism. This doesn’t surprise me at ALL. Heather the manager seems to be on some crazy power trip. On top of humiliating me in front of others she threatened to not honor my reservation further making me feel like a criminal as I was told I was committing fraud. Further as I was going back out to my car I noticed photo copies of my credit card and ID laying out in the open on the counter. I’d be very cautious of staying here

We stopped here twice on our to and from Baton Rouge, LA. It was very nice and clean. Rooms were roomy and everything worked. The employees were helpful and willing to help us. Breakfast was adequate and the food was good. We will stay here again if we are in the area.

My first ever time in Birmingham, this hotel seemed a good choice based on other reviews — and yes, I would stay again! PROS: - Clean, possibly newly refurbished room — quiet and spacious and it had everything I needed - Everything seemed brand new (especially the linens) and I loved the way the towels were laid out all fancy in the bathroom when I arrived :) - Excellent location to the highway, with numerous shops and restaurants nearby - Plenty of free parking CONS: - I was greeted by surly staff at reception when I checked in — it almost seemed like I was interrupting their day by checking in and asking questions - I could hear people above me thumping around in their rooms (ie poor insulation) - The breakfast area in the guest rooms could do with some better lighting

This hotel is built into the side of a hill, with a mere 10 regular parking spots available on the lobby level (2). This means that most clients will be parking behind the hotel, at the bottom of the hill. This has its own entrance on level 1. The problem here is that the luggage carts are kept outside the lobby on 2, and are not to be found on 1. To make matters worse, the elevator adjoining the lobby only runs from floor 2 to the top. So, to use a baggage cart, you have to collect outside the lobby, take the cart to the rear of the hotel, and then go down to floor 1. What a mess. Breakfast here was poor. Dried out turkey sausage patties is not my idea of a quality breakfast item. There is an indoor pool here, but no hot tub. There was a safe in our room ... inoperative. The only pluses here was that the hotel was quiet, and the refrigerator in our room had a freezer element, allowing us to refresh our dry ice. These positives are not enough to draw us back.

In preparation for a recent trip to the Birmingham area, I booked 3 rooms, one for my wife and I, two more for others in our party. Our room was booked with points,the other two I gave my credit card as payment ( to hold the room initially and to pay upon artival.) My wife even called to make sure they knew who was to be checking in those other two rooms and asked if it would be a problem if either of the other parties arrived ahead of us. We were assured it would be no problem. Well....guess what, it was a PROBLEM ! One party arrived a bit ahead of us and they would not allow them to check in using my credit card on file( as I had instructed and been assured it was perfectly ok). Even us speaking with the desk clerk did no good. They were forced to use their own credit card to check in ( good thing she had one). Upon our arrival, after expressing our displeasure with the inconsistent hotel policy concerning check in, we were told they didn't have the room we had booked. Flat out told us one was not available but offered a room that would put my teenage daughter on a sofa bed( she hates sleeping on those). More displeasure expressed. The ( obviously not very well trained clerk) went to speak to the night manager who came out to tell us we had booked a standard room ( we did not) and that's really all you get with points. More displeasure expressed. Her demeanor was a bit rude and demeaning. She then gave us the room ( two queens) we had requested to start with ( and were told flat out that there wasn't any initially) as a "courtesy". Well..as a Diamond Elite member I would expect a bit of courtesy..and the rooms that I booked. Waaayy too much hassle given to me for trying to patronize their hotel.

My husband and I travel for a living , we stay 179 nights every year at Holiday Inn’s across the country and what we used to love about them was their quality and consistency has been going down hill for awhile now. They daytime staff was incredibly rude and after reading some of the reviews I’m shocked and dismayed to see the mismanagement hasn’t been corrected . Woefully unprepared is an understatement. They didn’t book enough cleaning people for this completely booked hotel. So instead of getting our normal check out time of 12 we have to leave at 11. Instead of sleeping soundly we get the crashing waves of bag after bag into the echoing chambers of the concrete shaft we specifically requested weeks ago NOT to be near . Need handicap room? They can’t accommodate you. Need help with luggage because you are disabled? Good luck. This incident has made me now reschedule and check where all the Marriotts are near my customers . It’s one thing to make a mistake but to be constantly told your room that you booked weeks out has the same likelihood of Jo Bob from ******* the night before getting your room is ridiculous . If you don’t HOLD the reservation then what’s the point of booking in advance? We are the Diamond elite the highest status members and so far I’m not seeing the real benefit to being brand loyal to this chain of hotels anymore. And I’ll be advising the rest of my company to do the same.
