Pestana Ocean Bay Resort foton

We spent 10 nights at the Ocean Bay and had an amazing time. Form the moment we arrived everyone was smiling and helpful. Staff greeted us with some cake and a glass of Madeira wine… so nice. The hotel had literally opened the day before our arrival so there were maybe 5 couples our first couple nights. Room was bright clean and views were amazing! The front desk called up within the hour to make sure we had everything we wanted . As the days progressed we were given a bottle of wine and cheese try to enjoy on our balcony … Such a great touch and made us feel so welcomed . We enjoyed many nights on our balcony watching the promenade below and the sound of the ocean at night was so nice to fall asleep to. We kept our balcony door open to listen to it . The gardens and pool were beautiful. Refreshing as they are not heated but that’s ok! Sun is hot! The buffet restaurant was great and food especially breakfast was amazing! Loved the coffee machines with all the options from Americanos to Mocha chinos… The bar tender was great and even learned a Canadian drink we asked for… Wait staff were so pleasant and hard working and did their best to speak to us ! We already miss our sunsets and ocean sounds and this hotel. This vacation was everything and the memories we made were amazing!

Charming service, every room with an ocean view. Every evening there are artistic performances. Clean, good food, and beautiful greenery on the hotel grounds. A huge plus is the access to the promenade, which allows for long walks along the black beach.

this hotel was recommended to us by @cestovnibalicky. Great food and amazing evening music programs. Very helpful and kind staff especially Mrs. Manuela in the dining room. The cleanliness of the entire hotel and the pool is great. ZThank you for a wonderful holiday in Madeira.

This is a wonderful hotel with exemplary staff all round. My first visit to Madeira and I can't wait to come back. Our 3rd floor room faced the sea and the views are beautiful. The sound of the sea is such a joy. The food is good quality but short on veggie and vegan options. It improved when I asked Carla the guest support manager. The courtesy bus to Funchal is a real bonus. There are walks along the seafront in both directions. Going inland however is all uphill, which is fine but my knees struggled a bit. I am quite old though. If you want an easy, warm, friendly holiday, the Ocean Bay is an excellent choice.

Good location. Quiet spacious rooms with ocean views. Basic food selection but compensated by the selection of drinks. Transfer to the center of Funchal. Many free sunbeds near the pool. Possibility to use the sauna and steam room. Attentive staff

The hotel is a little dated but that didn't stop us from enjoying our stay. We had a couple of issues and they were resolved quickly & professionally. Micaela Nunes on reception was SO lovely and reassuring & her customer service is a asset to the Pestana group. The food was on the whole good ( we were all inclusive) the dessert sections was much the same every day & needs to be improved. The walk to Camera de Logos fishing village take about 50mins & is well worth the walk. It was extremely hot for our visit - we walked to Fuchanal but found it too much in the heat. Taxi's are about 10 - 15 euros to get to the centre.

As described in other reviews, this hotel was right on the beach. Pools are lovely and you can always get a sunbed. Rooms are dated but very clean. Staff are friendly. Not much going on with entertainment. Food is healthy and fresh. Lovely overall.

My arrival at the hotel was smooth, with a quick and efficient check-in process. The room was ready upon arrival, though it was somewhat dated. While it was well-maintained, the absence of air conditioning made the room quite warm on hot days. The ceiling fan helped, but it wasn't sufficient. The fridge worked well after I consulted the reception on how to operate it.The hotel is conveniently located on the beach, though it's a pebbly shoreline. The transfer from the airport took about 20-25 minutes, depending on the number of stops.I noticed the QR code contains excessive and unnecessary information; a simplified version would be more user-friendly.The main drawback was the all-inclusive food. The variety was limited, with little distinction between themed nights, if they were offered at all. The drinks were quite strong, but staff were accommodating when I requested less alcohol in mine. A positive aspect was the availability of picnic lunches for days out, which was very convenient.The hotel has great potential, especially if renovated and with improved food offerings. The staff were always polite and helpful. However, the entertainment team did not engage with me, seeming to focus primarily on German and French guests, so I can't comment on their activities.Overall, I would consider staying here again if the price remains competitive.

We returned to Madeira for a 10 day holiday and decided to try a slightly cheaper hotel than previous. We were not disappointed. The hotel may feel dated in some areas but the staff and location made up for this. We stayed in a premium room on floor seven. It was a bit dated in decor but the bonus was its size and a nice balcony overlooking the ocean ( we watched dolphins in the morning just off-shore). The room was spotless and cleaned everyday by the friendly staff no matter what time we seemed to get up. The food was very good throughout the day and night with plenty to chose from but it is more of a continentral flavour ie: no chicken nuggets and chips. We loved it. Dining and night time drinks sat outside was lovely and with most of the guests being French it made for a lovely background burble. It might be worth while learning the dance Le Madison as they all got up everynight to do it, great entertainment. The bar staff were very friendly with very large measure but the cocktails didnt quite hit the mark. Self service beer pumps helped me get my steps in everyday as I was a frequent visitor. As a note the bar shuts at 11pm and the hotel does go very quiet apart from the melodic noise of the waves. The pool area was lovely and kept very clean, we could always find sunbeds for the five of us and the enteratinment staff were great. You can have a nice walk along the coast into Funchal if feeling energetic or just grab a taxi or the free shuttle bus from the hotel. Funchal is a great place to wander around with a variety of restaurants and bars. Altogther a thumbs up from all of us and we would visit again.
