Quinta da Casa Branca

We came here for 10 nights to celebrate my husbands 60th and it couldn't have been more perfect! We loved this hotel, what a wonderful, tranquil place in the centre of Funchal. The gardens are a delight and a real haven for birds and butterflies, the gardeners do a wonderful job and you feel you can breathe in this hotel. The hotel itself is delightful, with first class staff, and food and two delightful pools. We dined half board every night in the Manor House, and what a treat it was. The food was amazing and some reasonably priced wines which is not often the case in such establishments. Breakfast on the outside terrace is lovely, with a buffet of pretty much all you can think of, as well a cooked options, such as eggs benedict, omelette, pancakes etc. They do a lovely assortment of lunch options too! We opted for a premium room and so glad we did, room was huge, with a large bathroom and a daybed and chair on the balcony, if you can afford the splurge,then consider one of these. Yes, in fairness the rooms are a tad dated, but that didn't detract for us as it was impeccably clean and we both said that should we visit Madeira again this would be our first choice of hotel, no question. Also a big thank you to the staff for making our holiday so special and working so hard to make this hotel so unique

We stayed in the QdCB for one week in June and really enjoyed our time here. We liked the stylish design of the hotel with its lovely and well maintained gardens. Although the road outside the hotel could be busy at certain times of the day, we were not aware of road noise in the hotel grounds. Our ground floor room in the garden block was spacious and had two reclining beds on the patio facing the garden. The beds in the room are very comfortable. The only minor criticism is that the bath/shower combination is very narrow and possibly in need of updating. Breakfast (either on the terrace or inside) was a highlight. Lots of fresh fruit, cakes and pastries, breads, cheeses and meats to choose from, plus hot food that could be ordered. The breakfast team were very helpful and friendly. It was lovely to sit outside looking over the grounds to the hills above Funchal. We made use of the small gym, sauna and jacuzzi which were empty most of the time we were there. Hotel staff are excellent and very helpful. From the reception team to those who maintained the rooms and gardens everyone did a great job. The hotel is on the west side of Funchal and uphill from the waterfront. We walked into Funchal several times and also ran down to the waterfront and along the pedestrianised areas. The hills make for a good workout. We would happily return for another stay…

We had a very enjoyable 4 night stay. As others have said, this hotel is set in beautiful garden grounds and is very tranquil. Our room 500 was exceptionally well appointed and looked after by friendly staff who always greeted us in passing. In fact all the staff here should be congratulated in the way they treated us. Breakfast was excellent each morning. Cold buffet fully stocked and the cooked option was fresh and tasty. We had one evening meal which was also very good but ate out as there are restaurants close by. We felt that the main centre of Funchal was more like a 30 to 40 minutes walk to reach the market and cable car area and chose a taxi back after a day’s sightseeing. It was only 6 euros. A highlight during our stay was being involved in seeing how the banana plantation’s were watered. Staff showed us around and it was entertaining and informative. All in all we loved this hotel.

The hotel is beautiful standing in the most amazing grounds, which are constantly attended to by a team of gardeners and kept immaculate and beautiful. The same can be said of the service provided by the staff of this lovely hotel. From the reception staff who greeted us on arrival to the staff in the restaurant serving breakfast with smiles and efficiency, whilst keeping the “help yourself table” topped up. We did not eat in the hotel except for breakfast as there are so many excellent restaurants around and in town that in a week we did not have time to fit it in. It is a twenty minute walk into the centre of Funchal from the hotel and there are many local restaurants as well. This hotel and indeed the whole island are a touch of paradise and we cannot wait to return.

What can I say! We are just returning from a week at Quinta Da Casa Branca and cannot think of one negative thing to say. Everything about the hotel is beautiful, the beds are comfy and clean, the gardens are beautiful. Every member of staff was friendly and would do anything for you and the food was gorgeous. Breakfast was definitely my favourite time of day, sitting outside with a cuppa, taking in the scenery. We will definitely be back for another week of relaxation.

We stayed for a week (2 couples who don't usually do package trips) and it was soooooo good ! The whole ambience is one of calmness and relaxation, and the extensive gardens are superb ! We would certainly return here if ever we come back to Madeira !

We stayed at the Quinta for the fourth time. That tells you something about how we rate it. This occasion was our golden wedding and we stayed in a suite in the Manor House. The staff in this hotel are warm and welcoming and create the perfect holiday setting. This year we decided not to rent a car but to make more use of the Quinta's facilities than we had previously. The gardens are an absolute delight at any time of the year and the pool is so relaxing. The service is second to none and the restaurants are outstanding. You can have anything from a Wagu burger to a Michelin Star meal. The breakfact buffet is heaven and served in the Pavillion restaurant. We hope to be able to visit the island again and to savour the wonderful welcome that it provides. You can walk into Funchal in 20 minutes or stroll down the Lido and along the waterfront. There are many first class restaurants in the area.

Excellent hotel set in beautifully tended grounds complete with a banana plantation and many varieties of exotic trees. Stayed in a huge 2 storey suite in the Manor House with its own entrance, including a drawing room! Luxury. Hotel arranged a superb morning event guided by the gardening staff to demonstrate and participate in the banana plantation irrigation process. Followed by a poncha toast and some local exotic fruit sampling. Highlight of the week. Thank you.

Top marks for the staff, the food, the accommodation (we had a huge suite in the enormous, opulent but under-used Manor House), and the fabulous gardens/arboretum/banana plantation. (If you’re not interested in exotic trees beforehand, you will be by the time you leave!)
