The Mooring Post

We ordered breakfast at 9.25 and it is 10.30 and still no sign of it. Others ordered after us and received theirs. Unbelievable and despite booking a room with breakfast included this was also questioned. I will add photos of the breakfast if it ever arrives!

Convenient location to explore Gloucester Quays, a 40-45 minutes walk or 10 minute drive. Lovely surroundings next to the River Severn and Over Canal Basin. Just off an A road. Large double bedroom with jacuzzi bath, mini fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. We’d definitely stay here again!

I don’t tend to leave poor reviews at all but this experience was particularly unpleasant. Booked four rooms for family members to stay in on the night of my wedding at Elmore Court, but our guests were told they were only able to stay in three - with guests therefore made to share a bed - again, this is despite us having paid for four. Key, though, is that since then, instead of trying to help us to resolve the issue, the Mooring Post has been nothing but defensive, rude and unpleasant to deal with, offering really strange reasons as to why we couldn’t have a refund on the room we paid for. Eventually, after a huge hassle, they begrudgingly agreed to give a partial refund for the room they didn’t let us use, but even this small refund hasn’t materialised. I can’t comment personally on the rooms as I didn’t stay, the guests said they were fine, but that they couldn’t wait to leave in the morning due to the uncomfortable atmosphere in the place. I’d urge you to think twice about spending your money with these people. Hopefully the mooring post can see value in training the staff to turn it around, particularly as there do seem to be several reviews mentioning really bad service and MIA refunds.

Stayed for one night but would definitely return. Lovely room with little extras that make a big difference - fridge with complimentary milk and water, coffee machine, biscuits etc. comfortable and spacious room with plenty of sockets and storage. Bathroom included a jacuzzi bath and lovely fluffy white towels. We had both an evening meal and breakfast and were met with a warm welcome by Sam and the restaurant staff. A good choice of meals with generous portions and all delicious. Pleasant surroundings and close to Gloucester Quays. Easy check in and out. Reasonable price for the facilities- we would certainly book again. Thanks 😊

Needed to visit family and also wanted to make the long weekend a bit of a special break. The mooring post was fab. The room had great views. There was also doggie gift bag and dog bowls. Coffee machine and tea and coffee provided , as well as toiletries you would expect from a branded hotel. The bar/ restaurant was excellent. Simple menu but good cooked fresh and cooked to a good standard. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Plus amazing taste in music! We loved it so much we have booked another weekend here.

Brilliant overnight stay at The Mooring Post - great location for walks near the river, very dog friendly, the room was great - everything you need + a comfy bed - 10/10! Would highly recommend this place!
