Lodge du Chateau was a fantastic place to stay in Gonder. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with fresh and flavorful options every morning. The staff, especially Simon, were incredibly friendly and always ready to help with anything we needed. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect base for exploring the city. Highly recommend!

Lodge du Chateau in Gonder was one of the hotels we stayed in Ethiopia. We had a bigger room with my wife and two kids. The room was clean and the location of the lodge is very central to all the ancient castle of Gonder. Everywhere we go it was a walking distance. The breakfast was very delicious with kind service. The owner of the Lodge is very helpful and indeed he is very friendly person. We had arranged guided tour through the lodge which was great and everything went quite well. I would strongly recommend this beautiful lodge to anyone traveling to Gonder.

Hi, I’ve stayed at Simon’s Lodge for a couple of nights. The lodge is clean, nice and with hot water. Located really close to the old quarter. Simon is a great host who can help to arrange a variety of activities. I really enjoyed my stay and recommend it if you are at Gondar :)

We really enjoyed Lodge Du Chateau Simon is the best host. He helped us clean our things when we arrived, have a hot shower, gave us a lot of tips to tour the city and even other cities around and really he helped us with everything. He’s a great host. The breakfast is very good and we really recommend it.

We think back with warm and fulfilled feelings of our stay at Lodge du Chateau in Gonder, Ethiopia. And especially to our meeting with Simon (Seyoum), the owner/manager. Simon took extra effort to introduce us to the secrets and treasures of Gondar, Ethiopia and Africa. In a very warm way, he made us feel at home and managed to make us experience magical moments, pointing out different pearls of the city and taking us to special places. Gonder is a very nice and lively city, with a rich history. In the hotel there is a beautiful courtyard garden and most importantly there is a wonderful rooftop terrace where an unparalleled breakfast is served. There is also a wonderful view of the city there. Remarkable attention and love speaks from everything. This place has the X-Factor. We would love to come back here again!

Great experience in the heart of Ancient Gondar. Excellent host who is serving a generous breakfast himself. Views from the roof terras makes it perfect.The Lodge is well secured and you will find only people who have a reason to be there. Very pleasant. I stayed longer than anticipated.

Quiet and lively atmosphere at the same time (with a fantastic garden in the middle of the lodge), having breakfast on the lovely terrace (with excellent breakfast) is heart-warming. The host Simon is always approachable, makes one feel at ease, but does not evade questions about the political situation. The staff is friendly and helpful. The ceiling lamp was far too bright, the bedside lamp far too dim.

Beautifully designed with a nice garden in the courtyard and a terrace with a great view. Great location directly opposite of the castle complex. Very friendly and helpful staff who take the time to think about your needs and opportunities. Best breakfast in Ethiopia!

Simon and his team are the perfect hosts. Very kind, flexible and helpful. On top of that perfect location of the lodge, just next to the royal compound! The top choice in Gonder for what it's worth. Enjoy!
