When we arrived Monday evening, we were greeted with a welcoming and friendly smile by Brenda. She is the type of employee that makes for a great first impression of a business. My wife and I enjoyed our 2-night stay here. The hotel is clean, quiet, and comfortable. We stayed in a king suite and the leather couch gave the room a pleasant leather-shop smell rather than chemical disinfectant or deodorizer-type odor that is frequently encountered. The location is convenient to Shipshewana, Elkhart, and the quilt flower gardens trail.

Use the Bonvoy app to securely pay for my room as I always do. Requested digital key as I always do Hotel refused to provide digital key until time of check Bonvoy app allows you to digitally check in and walk straight to your room per the app. Stephanie the manager refused a digital key, refused to walk out from behind her counter to verify my ID, and canceled my stay this evening The cameras above the check-in have used other locations to fraudulently steal peoples identity. I am a victim of identity fraud, and I refuse to put my ID in front of those cameras. This is my last and final straw with Marriott. To the owner of the property… Marriott is on the front of your building not your private labeled company name. Marriott is who fills your rooms. Marriott is who provides your customers way to use the online website and other ways to check in to your hotel. Marriott rules and regulations allow for guests to digitally check in and walk straight to their room. This would’ve never happened. I would’ve never had my room canceled by Stephanie if I would have simply been provided my digital key prior to check in I do more than 150 hotel stays per year. I’m a victim of identity fraud because of the cameras over top of the check-in counter at another property I expressed that about my concern and offered a solution to show I’d outside the camera view. Stephanie refused. Driving now 45 min to Hilton where I should have went first.

The facility here is pretty average for todays traveler. It took us 3 try’s before we got into a room that had blinds that opened, had more than 1 chair and didn’t look out on the backside of the front portico. What was above average was the desk manager, Cody, who took the time to find us a room that was suitable. Records show I’ve spent over 300 nights at Marriott properties over time. This one is ok.

This place was great! It's a clean hotel with friendly staff! There was a good selection of foods on the breakfast buffet. The bed was very comfortable and they leave you plenty of pillows. We really enjoyed our stay at Fairfield Inn and suites in Goshen, Indiana

-1 Was overcharged. I was charged almost $300.00 for a $50.40 reservation. Was told that I was overcharged because I used a business card for the payment and they assumed I was traveling on business. I received poor customer service from the moment I stepped into this hotel until the time I left. The Front desk staff is rude and needs customer service training. Management is obviously non existent as my wife left a message last week for a return phone call and has yet to receive one. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had at a Marriott property and I will never stay at this property again as the treatment I received is very unacceptable and disgusting for a Marriott property.

BE ALERT: This Indiana hotel goes by the same name as a Fairfield Inn by Marriott located in Goshen, NY! The email confirmation they send does not specify in the email subject line which state you have booked a room for - it just says Goshen I detailed this very unfortunate mistake to a Marriott representative, who said it's up to the hotel branch what to do. This hotel's supervisor declared that it should have been clear to me in the email which hotel I booked (subject line says Goshen, which indeed is where I intended to book, it does not Indiana) and I was told there's nothing they could do - that I would be charged the FULL AMOUNT of the room I wouldn't be staying in (and the reservation could not be shifted to the correct Marriott Fairfield). There was no negotiating to meet halfway, to give a partial future Fairfield In. credit, or do anything that could lessen the blow. SCAM ALERT - The Fairfield Inn confirmation email links to its cancelation policy. It specifies the specific dollar amount that will be charged if canceling within 48 hours of the trip. HOWEVER - This hotel supervisor states I will be charged nearly 40% MORE THAN WHAT THEIR OWN CANCELLATION POLICY STATES. This is worse than a bait and switch. SCAM PART II - Staff at both the Goshen Indiana and Goshen NY branches stated that this error happens ALL THE TIME. If it happens so frequently, one should ask why they haven't moved to remedy this. They are making $$$ off a known issue with their two same-named hotels! What I had hoped for: An understanding human who realized I made an unfortunate mistake. What I got: The realization that this has happened to far too many people, the hotel has discretion on how to handle the situation, the hotel fully realizes there is another hotel in its network with the same name and yet continues to allow people to fall into this trap. Deeply disappointed that a highly regarded brand such as Marriott would allow such confusion to reign.

If this is your only option, I would sleep in my car. I stayed at this hotel for a wedding in town where I was the Maid of Honor. I called asking for an early check in, and was informed they were full the previous night and at 10 am on a Saturday, they had no housekeepers at work to prepare any rooms. I call back around two pm, to see if my husband could check in so he could shower after he had been helping prepare the wedding all day in the heat. I was informed that no one could check in for me, despite having called, two forms of my photo ID, the card on file, and our marriage license, I was required to physically be there for check in. I asked to speak to a manager and was informed that on weekends, there is no manager available. I'm not sure how your hotel doesn't have a manager available on high-volume weekends when you're completely full. Amber informed me I would have to miss photos with the bride and the wedding party to check my husband into the hotel for him to shower and get ready. I'm all for policy, but would think there could be some arrangements made and hospitality offered, considering the room was already paid for and I had called ahead to inform the management of the situation. So after the wedding and we have cleaned up, I go to check in at around 1 am. I was then informed by the staff that my photo ID doesn't look like me (I have full wedding hair and makeup done and cleaned up the wedding). Once again, after having two forms of photo ID, three credit cards in my name, the card on file, the room already paid for, the front desk attendant was unwelcoming and hesitant to let me check in. Let's also note that I have an Indiana driver's license; I'm not from some far off place with a form of ID they'd never seen. I fly and travel monthly for work and have NEVER been treated so poorly or had any issues with my photo IDs. If you want to be humiliated, disrespected, and hope you can get into your room, this is the place for you.

During my recent stay with my wife at the Fairfield Inn, Goshen, IN (ending tomorrow June 22), I was quite dismayed at how I was treated. I asked for my room to be refreshed upon check-in and again at the front desk before my wife and I left the property today at 10am. Upon return at 4pm, housekeeping had not refreshed the room. We were told that once housekeeping sees a ‘do not disturb’ placard on the door early in their shift, Marriott’s policy does not require them to return and refresh the room. Certainly, we were not told this in advance. We find the property’s response unacceptable. We have become accustomed to Marriott staff not recognizing us for our loyalty as lifetime titanium and platinum members. And we recognize that Marriott has some outstanding staff members such as Robin at this property. However, I become disturbed when Marriott administration refers to me as being its product and the franchise owners as its customers. This attitude becomes even more disturbing and unacceptable when it carries through to my experience today. I am finding it difficult to remain loyal to this brand.

We booked the federal government rate which offered to active duty military at every other Marriott I have stayed at. I am Titanium elite, so I have stayed in a lot of Marriott hotels. I explained I was at this hotel for a funeral and Amber said I have to pay $50 more per night. If I did not pay I would be charged anyways because did not give 24 hours notice to cancel. She said this hotel does not give a military discount and the federal government rate rules were different for this hotel. We decided to stay one night and shortened our trip. I felt very cheated that this was not provided up front. We were given their small oldest room with the pealing wallpaper and only one tea/ coffee. I will not be staying here again.
