Paradise Hotel Corfu

This hotel deserves NO MONEY from anyone! The day previous to our last, we had arranged for a late checkout and paid the €50 charge (yes, disgraceful amount) for this and were told we could keep our room until whenever we wanted. Around 4pm on our last day, by the poolside, with the entire hotel witnessing, we were RUDELY accosted by the receptionist with whom we organsied the late checkout the previous day. We were shouted at that they had been tyring to locate us all day as we did not vacate our room and so the housekeeping had cleared out our belongings and put them in another room. She shouted at us that she told us we were to vacate our room and use another on the ground floor for late checkout. This was the first time we had knowledge of this! It was her word against ours but clearly there was some misunderstanding. The way this was dealt with was disgraceful and completely unprofessional. No one had been looking for us the entire day as we were poolside since 9.30am. NEVER should this rude female have come to the pool shouting infront of all the other guests, causing a completely unnecessary scene and huge embarrassment, other guests even approached to ask what had happened. It was mortifying and we left the pool on account of this. On locating the room we were assigned for late checkout we then found our belongings had been dumped into black BIN BAGS!!!! We then spent around 30 mins trying to collate our items and account for everything. The room itself it was nothing short of disgusting (see photos) To charge €50 for this is Robbery......NO air-conditioning, NO hairdryer, NO fridge, a shower that blasted water at a painful speed soaking the entire room, ants everywhere and walls and doors with missing pieces. And then to top things off there was a power cut so the bathroom was in complete darkness, having to shower by the light of a phone torch, which in turn drained the battery and we could not recharge as there was no power. How this hotel have the audacity to charge €50 for this is beyond me!! Top top matters off I emailed this hotel to log a complaint about this entire situation and was basically called a LIAR, they "did not agree with any of my comments". Hence this review to warn people. My travel provider has also been contacted to inform. DO NOT go here, they do not deserve a penny from anyone, they do not care about customers or customer service.

This is a small & friendly hotel, typically Greek with local staff who are very helpful & work extremely hard. We chose an upgraded room which was very comfortable. Rooms were cleaned to a very high standard every day & facilities were very good. Breakfast choice very extensive & can sit outside. Very comfortable sunbeds with good sized pool. Gardens well maintained with olive & palm trees. Some negatives: No option for an evening meal. Lunch finishes at 4:30 Locals frequent at weekends & kids use the pool while adults have lunch, can get busy! To walk into Gouvia takes 10 minutes & there is a hill to climb on the way back ( ok for us but others found it to be a struggle ) You have to cross a dual carriageway to access Gouvia, quite daunting!

Stayed here 11 to 15 June with my niece who has special needs. Hotel is very dated but extremely clean. All the staff were wonderful and very caring towards my niece. My only complaint is that people are allowed to leave towels to reserve sunbeds. This could be seen at 8am when having breakfast. This is not fair and a lot of people, including myself, had to sit on chairs in the bar area. Special thanks to Myra on reception who arranged for us to have use of a very basic room on our day of departure as we were unable to keep our room. I had emailed the hotel before our arrival to ensure we would ne accommodated on the last day due to my niece having special needs.

This hotel is amazing. We stayed in a superior room which, judging by other reviews, was a good shout. The room was not at all dated and the bed was amazing. It was an actual king-size bed, rather than two pushed together as I have found with many other hotels. The mattress quality was excellent and we had great sleep while we were there. The clothes storage was a bit limited, as mentioned in other reviews, however that was a small price to pay for the wonderful experience we had overall, and we made use of the suitcase stand so we were able to easily access our case. We used the open wardrobe for things we wanted to hang, such as shirts and dresses, and the drawers for other frequently used clothing items. The breakfast was nice, with a great selection so something for everyone. The view from the room was lovely and the balcony was peaceful. All of the staff were wonderful and helpful. A special thanks to Myra at reception, as she recommended us some great places to visit and was always lovely to speak to. Also the barman, Vasillas, was wonderful! He made us the loveliest drinks (shout-out to his mojito) and he was so lovely to talk to. We are missing the hotel and the staff and would go back tomorrow if we could! Thanks so much again x

Having stayed in this hotel for a week I am extremely surprised it was able to garner a rating of 4.4 on TripAdvisor. I've never left a rating on TA less than 5 stars but felt that people ought to know what we didn't. We are not luxury hotel stayers and we were well aware that this was 3* accommodation before going, but we were really disappointed by the hotel to the point where we actively avoided spending time in it. Pros: * Pool area was nice, tidy and quiet * Rooms were clean, cleaned every day * Staff were friendly in our limited interactions * Close to Gouvia town Cons: * The bathroom was ludicrously dated. We couldn't be in it at the same time. Shower over an old bath and a shower curtain, old fluorescent lighting that makes your eyes ache * The worst storage of any hotel I've ever stayed in. Seriously, it was genuinely unacceptable. Two bedside drawers you could fit a book/tablet in and a open wardrobe with one very small drawer. We were unable to unpack and had to live out of open suitcases (we had to move the room chair to the balcony to accommodate this as the room was so small). * Walls were so thin I could hear next door snoring every night, and anyone walking up the corridor speaking at normal volume would wake us. Old school key in wooden door for entry, which doesn't shut behind you. Again, unacceptable for 3*. * Breakfast was basic at best, little fresh fruit and tea/coffee was poor. * Bring a hairdryer, unless you want to spend half your holiday wrestling with the one on the wall. Asked at reception and they couldn't provide one.

If we could give this hotel 10 stars, we would. From our late night arrival and greeting by Miltos we felt welcome. The room, 202, was lovely, clean, spacious with a balcony overlooking the side garden and hills. Plenty of storage space in a double built in wardrobe. Fair size fridge for keeping the Retsina cold. The bathroom was small but immaculate, with a bath and shower. Breakfast is incredible, the choices are amazing, hot and cold food and variations daily to keep you interested and checking for something different. The 2 chefs we met were lovely and always spoke and smiled when greeted by us. They offered help and information on the different items we didn't recognise and were able to keep everything topped up so no one missed out on anything. The breakfast team, Katerina, Thomas, Thespina and Kristina were the most fabulous people and nothing was too much trouble and their kindness and help was much appreciated and we cannot thank them enough. Team you are amazing, keep doing your thing, you are the best. To Myra and Angie on day Reception, a massive thank you for all your help, and advice on places to visit which helped us have a wonderful time. To our lovely housekeeper, whose name I have missed, thank you for your hard work and not missing a single thing. We have not had service as good as this for a long time. The dining room is large and nicely set out and there is a covered area to have your breakfast on the way to the outside area if you don't want to sit outside on the gorgeous terrace under the Olive trees. Breakfast is served from 07.30 to 10.30 and the bar, on the terrace, opens at 10.00. There is a large lounge area to sit and relax and has books for guests to read. The decoration throughout is lovely and there is a relaxed feel about the place which is nice to experience. Without doubt from customer experience this is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The only thing we would advise is it is quite a walk down a steep, curved hill and across a busy main road to get into the village but there are safe crossing areas. The walk back up will be a challenge to some but we had our mobility scooters so it was fun for us, both directions 😀. This hotel is perfect so if you are looking for a base to explore from, we cannot recommend the Paradise highly enough. Corfu Town around 20 minutes drive, Ipsos around 15 minutes, the beautiful Paloekastritsa about 30 minutes. Public transport is from the main road at the bottom of the hill but we had to use Taxis due to having the mobility scooters and had factored in the additional cost of this before we travelled.
