Quinta Da Marka

My husband and I felt like we died and went to heaven during our amazing stay at this Quinta. It was all so amazing, views of the Douro from our room, the delicious food, the excellent service, and courteous, smiling staff. There are multiple places to sit with a book and glass of wine, including the swimming pool. You can take a short train ride to nearby Pinhoa for shopping and wine tasting. It is an easy walk to the small, local depot, or the Quinta will arrange to drop you off and pick you up on your return. Quinta da Marka also provides excellent wine of its own. Angela was like our Spirit Guide; she directed us to the best the area has to offer. Every night we had dinners prepared by the excellent chef that were truly out of this world. We would go back there in a heartbeat.

Wonderful quinta (vineyard with very small hotel and restaurante) - stayed over Easter Good Friday 2023 - terrific room, great ambiance throughout, has a terrific walk up through the vineyard to the chapel half-way up the small mountain - and Good Friday dinner was very special! Just three couples staying and in the restaurant, so impeccable service and a very very good pescetarian meal, with matching wines on special request. The staff were truly outstanding, especially the manager lady who rescued us from up the mountain when we split a tire open and found the very small rental car had no spare! All in all, a fabulous experience with many very fond memories

I totally loved Quinta da Marka! Angela couldn’t have been more delightful and helpful (and fluent in English). All staff on site were SUPURB and friendly, despite language barrier. We were only staying for one night, and didn’t want to leave! The views are spectacular. The view from the beautiful house windows were like paintings! The lovely pool had ample seating and sun beds. The terrace above also had seating. All of which looked over the Douro river. On arrival we were given a tasty Rosé welcome drink. Thank you! Our room (number 7) was fantastic. Very quiet, well equipped and comfortable, with views to the river. We started our stay with a wine tasting session. This was brilliant. The wines were all delicious and served with cheese and crackers. We had a lovely time tasting and chatting. After wine tasting (in my opinion, the best wine we have tasted in the Douro Valley) we headed to the pool to relax and take in the scenery. We had the area to ourselves! We arranged to have dinner at the hotel. This was 3 courses. Very reasonably priced and very tasty. We enjoyed more of the lovely Marka wine! A really special evening, made even better by the good food, excellent wine and fantastic and very friendly service. After a SUPURB nights sleep, we had an amazing breakfast. Angela was very helpful with suggesting places to visit moving forward. Once checked out, we were invited to spend time by their lovely pool. Thank you Angela and your team!

From the start service was amazing . Angela picked us up from train station and when we arrived offered us a welcome drink and great omelette and salad . Our room was spacious old world charm with all amenities and comfortable bed . Modern bathrooms . Our room overlooked the river and a beautiful sunrise . Breakfast was the best we've had in Spain or Portugal fresh fruit yogurt cold meats eggs anyway you like them fresh bread and cakes . Juice tea and coffee. Angela organised a trip wine tasting and tapas at another Vineyard which she drove us to. It was fantastic. Also the boat cruise was nice . The hotel has lots of garden flowers and places to sit and enjoy the peace and views. A bonus was a nice pool with plenty of sun lounges. This is a small hotel 10 rooms which has a library and beautiful lounge area . So peaceful would come again . All the staff were so helpful and happy .

We spent one night at this lovely little hotel. The drive from Porto to this hotel started out easy enough and then we hit the Douro hills to arrive at the hotel. Surprised we didn’t fall off the cliff!! DRIVE SLOW. The hotel is set on a hill right on the river with incredible views over the Douro. Our room equally had windows overlooking the river!! The room and bathroom were nice…bed was old school but comfortable. The tiny TV didn’t work. The pool was the real selling point…we pretty much spent our afternoon there. Wine and cheese delivered right to our lounge chairs. Dinner was available at night both if you wanted a full sit down or just a snack. Breakfast was plentiful. Angela and kitchen staff were all very friendly and helpful! Would definitely stay here again!

A very charming Quinta on an excellent location along the Douro river! Great atmosphere, clean, classic and comfortable. The large pool with amazing river views and the food very well prepared. Highly recomended!
