La Terraza Guest House B&B

We spent two nights here and really enjoyed our stay. The grounds are beautiful and a walk in the garden by the river was amazing. One immediately relaxes. Beautiful plantings, birds and butterflies surround the breakfast area. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. They paid attention to my need to eat gluten free. What really makes the place extra special is the owner, Charles. He is a wonderful person and I so enjoyed our conversations and appreciated his kindness, advice and attention to detail. John, his assistant was also lovely and a pleasure to chat with.

We stayed here after a red eye flight into SJO. It was a comfortable 40 minute early morning drive (in a rental car) from SJO to La Terraza. Located in a very cozy and safe town (Grecia), up a small hill, within residential homes is La Terraza. Bright yellow, inviting color guest house with parking and the guest house B & B is gated. Gorgeous, lush grounds with plenty of nature surrounding La Terraza. Hummingbirds, butterflies, many more different types of birds and stunning plants and trees. You have arrived into Costa Rica's inviting nature environment at La Terraza. The staff is very kind and we were welcomed warmly and they also emailed us prior to our visit to make sure we were secure with our arrival. Kindness, more kindness and we felt at home immediately. They provided us with breakfast, which is handmade freshly in the kitchen. Warm aromas of coffee, fresh juice and fresh fruit and baked items with care and love. There is a beautiful patio with an outside dining area where we enjoyed our meal. The room had a balcony which we sat on for hours on 2 rocking chairs, overlooking a steady stream of soothing water. Absolutely STUNNING! La Terraza is very clean, cozy, and has very nice decorative qualities that I enjoyed to be surrounded by, upon our stay. There is a small bridge we walked over to land across a running stream and took lots of photos. We explored the nature around us and had a lot of fun! We only stayed 1 night, as we were on our way to be married at the La Fortuna Waterfall the following day. We wish we could have stayed several more days at La Terraza, because we loved it so much, but it was a terrific place to stay upon our arrival into SJO. The best part is when the owner came to our breakfast table to introduce himself to us. We loved that. Many compliments to La Terraza! Upon our next trip to Costa Rica, we will be back to stay here! Pura vida!

La Terraza Guest House B&B is beautifully set in rich and beautiful terrain and well landscaped. We were made to feel welcome, and staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and respond to our requests. Charles, the owner, was helpful, but beyond that introduced us to a part of his community and helped us understand how, with respect, the community in Costa Rica makes themselves available to share in their ways and spirit. At the same time, the breakfasts are delicious, beautifully plated and presented in that Pura Vida spirit, cleaning and laundry services excellent, with help connecting us with other resources to tour the area. Nearby the dining area are birdfeeders that attract hummingbirds and several other species that add to the relaxing and engaging experience of simply hanging out there. Charles is a warm and clever man with years of experience at his fingertips - we felt we connected with a friend. The appliances, electronics, wi-fi service and utensils in the rooms were easily available and set out. The property was meticulously looked after, clean and well managed. There were little things that matter, like flowers, wine, fresh water and fruit juice in the frige even a couple of muffins as a welcoming. There is a coffee maker in each room. We recommend this place without reservation to anyone looking for a good experience staying in Grecia.

If you want to be treated like royalty, this is the place for you. I wake up to birds singing, including a couple who flit around on my balcony. Cup of tea waits for me in the breakfast area while I look at many many hummingbirds and other birds. I am vegan and the kitchen staff was very willing to accommodate me, and they did so with smiles. The office staff will do anything in her power to accommodate your needs, arrange for where you want to go. The three women who cook and clean bend over backwards to be sure you have everything you want. I would live here if I could.

The breakfast is fantastic, something fresh and different every day. The room and grounds are wonderful. Our host, Charles, knows everything about the area and has been a huge help. We feel very lucky we chose La Terraza! We plan on coming back as soon as we can!

Somehow squeezed in a a neighborhood area, but vewry nicely arranged. We hadt he big "El Rio" suite which was very well equipped, incl. kitchenette as well as balcony where you can drink your evening beer or glass of wine. There is a little park around the river, very nice indeed. The service is very friendly and the breakfast tastes very well.
