Don't think of an incredible menu card, it's not like that. they have 4 dishes. each of them is a delight. Therefore I advise, you only live once. Take them all…raclette, fondue, meat and roast beef. absolute delight. a piece of advice, don't go to the choice of a wine, they will certainly be very good given the large cellar. take their unfiltered craft beer it's called cardinal...immense. and finally the Top! unexpected to scream towards the angels. the desert, fresh berries, a homemade cream and a white foam on the side. I would have eaten 10 but I was already served with them courses and I couldn't overdo it. I'll come back just for this. price? if you want to rejoice so much wallet you have to use, this is the golden rule. to Majora

We loved our stay at hotel de gruyères! Phenomenal location, comfortable and cozy rooms, very friendly staff, and great restaurant! Not only was our room cozy, but the view was incredible! Looking out to rolling hills, cows, deer, biplanes, and the storybook-like views you can only find in Switzerland is incredible. And the bed was comfortable. You cannot beat the location. Nestled at the entrance to the medieval city, staying here allows you to both easily walk anywhere in the city and park your car in their lot right by your rooms. No lugging your briefcase over cobblestones to get to your hotel in the medieval city, and no driving to get to the medieval city. And you aren’t sacrificing any beautiful architecture staying here - it’s a great building. The restaurant is so good! We had a lot of fun with the raclette, and the ice cream and meringue dessert was huge but super fun. If I ever came back to Gruyeres, I would definitely stay here again. We had a great time!

We stayed two nights end of November and booked spacious quadruple room on the 3rd floor, which had a Mountain view and side view on the castle. Everything was perfect: 1) Very close to the center of the village (there are only 2-3 hotels in such proximity to Gruyeres); 2) hotel is located on the hill, so you do not have to go up from public parking P1, P2 or P3; 3) private parking with 9 places and a couple of places for motorbikes (free of charge); 4) if private parking is full, the car can be parked on P1, P2 or P3 for 10 CHF per day or free of charge between 18:00 and 8:00; 5) room is equipped with a fridge, kettle, safe; 6) fabulous fresh breakfast with a lot of choices; 7) very friendly ladies on reception; 8) wellness center with sauna and hammam (can be booked and ready for use in one hour of heating) and small gym (well equipped); 9) restaurant with a terrace outside with an amazing view; 10) 5 min to the cheese factory and 15 min to chocolate factory by car. I would say the restaurant with limited selection of dishes but you get 10% discount at the reception.

On check in we requested a quiet room, we had an awful night due to problems with other noisy guests until 5.30 in the morning and there was no one in the hotel on duty to help. This should not be an AA rated hotel.

The hotel has a wonderful view over the nearby mountains and valley. If the weather is kind, the restaurant terrace is a great place to chill (pity about the restaurant though). Our room was on the drive way side so no view or balcony. It was also very very small for two people. We had to rearrange the furniture so that we could place our bags on the floor. This was needed as there was no shelf space. Only hanging space. The room had one bed side reading light as the main light. Whilst creating an atmosphere the room gets quite dark. I’m only 175cm and found the bed too short. My 6 foot husband had a restless night as he hung over the edge. The breakfast was lovely and a great start to the day. We were let down by the reception who informed us that we could pay for bus tickets on board with a card….you can’t! Overall, the glory days have passed and the place needs some uplifting. And if you want a proper menus for dinner, skip the restaurant and walk into the the old town.

Rustic and Romantik hotel, that emanates Historie. Maybe a little bit in need of some TLC paint wise, but other than that a very lovely and charming place. Wonderful location, with the most beautiful view to the mountains. We had paid a bit extra for a room with Mountain View, which was worth it to us. Our room had a small balcony with table and chairs, which was lovely when you just wanted to be yourself. There was also the choirs to use two other big Terrasse’s on the spot. The service was good, everyone was very friendly and helpful and always with a smile and most spoke at least a bit of English or German as well, despite the area's main language being French in this part of Schweizerland. There was parking nearby, which is not a Garantie with the rest of the Hotels in this little medieval town. For 20 CHF per person you kann get a nice breakfast buffet every morning, which we found to be an okay prices after trying the first morning. There is a classic variety of different things to choose from and lokal specialties.

Absolutely great from arrival to departure. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice room with a view of the mountains. The building and rooms are older and traditional. That is a compliment not complaint. Very clean, warm and comfortable. A 2 min walk to the town. Car park is a bit small. Breakfast was a little expensive but plentiful with a great choice and very good quality. Restaurant was fully booked for the evening. They reserved us a table at their partner place in the town. This was just as good with great food and staff. In conclusion they made a very nice weekend into a great and stress free weekend.

Had a booking at Le Chalet but ended up having dinner at the hotel, was so impressed. Great service, fantastic view, excellent quality of food and ingredients, everything was of a super experience. Prices are affordable and highly recommended
