Star Residence ICC Guangzhou

Location is excellent. We picked this room as it was a studio apartment. However, when we arrived there was nothing equipped in the kitchen. When we asked for a couple of plates, glasses, and tableware it arrived dirty (see picture). There was no dish soap to wash them so we didn’t use them. There was also no hand soap and we didn’t get any when it was requested. We won’t stay here again and I wouldn’t recommend if you wanted to use anything kitchen related.

Great location and overall good value for money The hotel has an excellent location — lots of cafes, shops, and malls nearby. There’s a convenient delivery service on the first floor where couriers can leave your packages, and the staff is polite and helpful. The room was clean and modern, matching a 4-star standard. It had a fridge, microwave, and washing machine — very useful. However, there are a few downsides. The deposit is quite high (3000 RMB), and it’s better to leave it in cash because if you pay by card, it’s unclear when or if it will be refunded. This can be inconvenient if you’re a tourist flying home after your stay, as you end up stuck with local currency. There are no extras like a minibar or room service, so it’s unclear why the deposit is so large. Also, the amount seems to change — it’s not fixed. The gym is extremely small and basically empty, but you still have to pay to use it. Breakfast was very basic, so we didn’t use it at all. The room includes a kitchen, and you can request kitchenware from the hotel, but they don’t inform guests about this. The first time we stayed, we didn’t know and had to buy our own plates and utensils. Overall, for the price, this is a very good place to stay. I would recommend it.

Spacious room with washer and a small kitchenette. Lots of shelves and storage. Eateries are nearby. There’s a connecting bridge to bring us to the ICC mall.

Spacious room, clean, and comfortable. I would book this again the next time I visit Guangzhou. The best part is that it had a washer in the room so we could do some laundry. Where I see opportunity for improvement is the check-in and checkout process. The people at the front desk was not very welcoming and when we checked out, no one asked how was our stay so no opportunity to give any feedback. There was no dishes or utensils not even a couple of basic knife, fork, or spoon for our morning tea or coffee. Also, house keeping did not provide clean cups so we had to go purchase basic cleaning supplies to wash dishes for our 4 days stay.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I was upgraded to the Executive Studio on the 10th floor, and enjoyed the view of the Stadium and malls at Taikoo Hui. The staff on duty were also helpful in answering queries related to renting a powerbank, getting around by Didi and public transport. They were also accomodating with a late check-out as my flight home was at night. Of note is the excellent soundproofing. Despite being located on a busy road, it was calm and peaceful. This was unlike another hotel I stayed in previously. While the room is clean, and comfortable with ample cabinet space, an in-room washing machine, microwave and induction stove, drying racks for laundry, detergent, cutlery, crockery and utensils had to be requested- through a call to reception. Location: Linhexi MRT Exit C is about 500 m away - on the side of the stadium It has escalators (both directions) and is useful for those with luggage. Exit D is oyhe same side of the road and is connected to high end mall with restaurants, spas and cafes. A short walk away is another mall with more varied choices

It was a large and comfortable room. Staff were efficient and friendly. The main complaint is that the room has a full kitchen but not eating or cooking utensils. You have to order these, and then they scrimp on delivering enough to be useful. There is no breakfast on-site, and their suggestion for breakfast was uninspiring.
