Western Hotel & Executive Suites

The reservation system is a call center somewhere international. The voice on the phone was obviously ignorant of the hotel. He said there is on-site parking but it is a free pass to park in a municipal parkade down the road. The price was different than the quote. There is no front desk, you need to get your pass code from the barmaid/waitress in the restaurant below while she answers phones and serves tables. But the room was very nice. The king suite was a fully contained and nicely equipped apartment. It was noisy from the street even in the middle of the night in my 3rd storey walk-up room. It was clean, but the management eservation service was difficult and disappointing.

Very good place to stay in downtown Guelph. We stayed here for one night and we had a great time. The check-in was a bit different than usual hotels but it was smooth and the waitress very friendly. The rooms are modern, clean, spacious and renovated. We had everything we needed. Just be aware it's stair access only, but it's not a large building so no big deal. We would recommend to anyone and will be returning on our next trip to Guelph.

I have stayed here previously and find it's the best place to stay in town. Now that other hotels near the university campus have shut down, this remains probably one of the best options. You need to check in at the actual bar next door (1881 Steakhouse & Burger Bar) to the hotel to get your fob and keycard to the room. This also means you can only do so when the bar is open which ranges from about 11:30am to 10-11:30pm depending on the day. You also have to get this from the staff working at the bar, so if it's busy, then it might take some time. I also inquired about baggage stroage in case one arrives early and the room isn't ready, and they don't have any place to store bags, so this could be an issue for some that don't have cars and arrive early. There is no parking on the street at all and you must use the parking garage and pay for that on your own located behind the hotel which is part of the mall there. The hotel has no elevator at all, so you will have to at least go up one flight of stairs or even more depending where your room is. The place is clean and really nice. The rooms are very nice with separate bedrooms off from the main living room (again, some rooms maybe be different). The living room is big with a couch, side table with chairs and then a full kitchen as well making it possible to just cook your own meals if you wish. Bedroom was a bit small, in comparrison, but it did have another TV in the room and a big comfortable bed. The bathroom was fine, though the only issue I had was the ledge behind the toilet that prevented the toilet seats from staying up, and making it hard to hold them up while going to the bathroom. The Air Conditioning worked great for the living room, however it didn't seem to reach the bedroom that well, making it a bit hot in there. Location is right downtown on the other side of where the buses and trains go to various other locations, it has several places to eat as it's right downtown and you can easily walk or catch a cash only bus to the University of Guelph if you needed to among other locations in the city. Just note that some rooms are interior rooms only without windows to the outside...

Loved this hotel. came for a night out with my girlfriends. It is a very cute unique hotel not he Main Street of downtown Guelph. Awesome location. We also went to restaurant called Lac Cucina just around the corner which was so amazing. The food was incredible. I love the feel and look of Guelph. Stay at this hotel to get the full Guelph experience.

What a pleasant surprise this place was! 4 couples from near Tillsonburg and St Thomas were in town for the night last night and all stayed here. Check in was a bit different but still easy. You have to go to the restaurant next-door called 1881 to get your key fob and to pick up your room code. I loved the fact that we did not have keys to worry about. The rooms were spotless and awesome ! Different layout for each room and each couple all said the same thing these rooms are perfect!! The place smelled clean the moment you walked in the hall!! We checked in and sat around in the one couple’s room visiting and then we went downstairs to the restaurant called 1881. The food was excellent. I had surf and turf and it was delicious. Everybody enjoyed their meal. Then we could walk to the River Run Centre because it was so close. The beds were lovely to sleep on and everyone had a nice sleep. The next morning we went to breakfast at the Sunrise Café, which was right down the street. Again an excellent meal. After the SuperTramp event, we went to an Irish pub which is right down the street and that was also a lot of fun. Can’t say enough good about this hotel. Would highly recommend it, and will be staying there again if we ever have another event at the River Run Centre. One more thing to add is parking. The hotel does not have its own parking lot because it’s right in the downtown area and on a main street. However, one couple parked on the street all night long and had no problem. The rest of us paid three dollars for the entire night to park overnight at a Parking building and a lot nearby. Unbelievable low price. We all just had a really good time and staying at this place and how convenient it was to everything really helped us to enjoy the weekend.

Overall beautiful suite. Easy check in through the pub. TV in the bedroom was not working, no cable channels and the internet on it kept quitting. Bathroom fan cover was filthy and condensation was dripping off of it.

The room had two queen size beds, one was innerspring and the other had a firmer bed. One A/C in sitting room and the front bedroom was very uncomfortable because of the afternoon sun. Called the support line and talked to the manager and asked for fans and he reluctantly agreed to go buy two for our stay. We told him that we wanted a refund so we could stay elsewhere. Overall, the rooms were very nice, but small. The small kitchenette had a full-size refrigerator.

Yes an old rustic style hotel with no elevator to which we were on the third floor but knew that going in & were fully prepared to enjoy our stay. Very good location in the downtown core, with no parking on site but had a city parking lot near by. Our room was very large with separate kitchen area, sitting area & then the bathroom & bedroom. Our room was very comfortable, clean & pleasantly quiet. Living room had a fireplace to which we turned on to just take the chill/dampness out of the room. The room was fully equipped with what ever needs for an overnight stay. The bed was quite comfortable, along with all the bedding supplies. Check in was through the bar/restaurant on site with keys, instructions & information provided by the bar staff. Overall a pleasant stay & would recommend & love to return another time.

My husband and recently stayed overnight at this hotel. We loved the modern style within this historic building. Our room 303 is a king suite. The design of the suite is great. We loved the high ceilings and deep window sills. The suite was well maintained and quiet. The bathroom is small but has everything that is needed, including an array of toiletries. The water was hot and abundant. The towels were fluffy. In the bedroom, the bed was very comfortable and bed linens were inviting. Bathrobes were provided. The kitchen is fully equipped. The central stairwell leading to the upper suites is extremely clean. Reception in the restaurant next door is welcoming and easy, quirky, so very European. Parking is nearby and cheap.
