After an unexpected trip to hospital, nothing to do with the guest house, we found it real easy to book a room in this delightful period property, we arrived after dark and was greeted by the host who was very helpful and informative, we were shown to our room after hours but nothing was too much trouble. The next morning it was explained were we could find local shops and places to eat, the room was very nice and a very good night sleep was what we wanted and got, not too hot for the time of year, the pool looked very inviting but unfortunately we had an appointment to go to, was very pleasant and would recommend Guilford as a place to stay as it has lots of historical buildings etc. Thank you to John and Shelly for a loverly night.

Lovely to look at lovely to stay. Relaxing after hot day in aircon and the pool Met another couple n chatted in the pool Extraordinary garden w rare plants Christmas twilight markets were just down the road which was a nice surprise We will be back 🤗

Our favorite Place to stay whenever we visit Perth. Guildford River Retreat is the whole package. Friendly and welcoming owners Shelley and Jon, always doing the extra mile to make our stay comfortable. Great location, Definitely value for money. This time we have been upgraded to the Heritage room which was an absolute delight, Stunningly beautiful room, very spacious with your own lounge and a huge bathroom with a full size bath and a mega shower , as always its very clean and well appointed rooms, coffee and tea making facility with a bar fridge. Close to shops and train station, surprisingly the room was quiet despite being at the front of the house. lovely surroundings., definitely we will continue to stay here when we visit Perth. Highly recommended

I choose to stay at Guildford River Retreat each visit to Perth. Firstly, because John and Shelley treat me kindly. It is in a quiet location and close to railway station, shops and eateries. It is not expensive and it is lovely and clean. Parking is available and I feel safe. I feel a sense of relief after a long drive and rest quietly and comfortably.

Small windowless room right next to train tracks and under flight path of airport. Bed was rock hard and 2 seater couch was broken and my husband hurt his back trying to get out of it. Internet didnt work which was unsuitable as we were there for a work trip. Room is old fashioned and very drab. Grounds are very old and need a lot of maintenance. We booked at 12pm and advised shortly after we arrived at 3.30pm that the room was unsuitable and that we would be checking out the next day. A refund for the following 2 nights was refused so we ended up spending another $703.80 on accommodation elsewhere. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

The reality was a windowless room with thin walls pressed up against the rail corridor and under the flight path for Perth airport with no river in sight. The gardens at the back were nice and some great heritage buildings and good restaurants in the town.

Comfy beds and very clean. Room serviced each day. Good central location. Guildford easily accessible down the road and across the train tracks. Only a small amount of parking, fortunately only a few others staying so wasn't too much of a problem. Pity the pool wasn't heated or very clean.

This is our 3 rd visit to this lovely place and it won’t be our last ! Jon and Shelley are perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble Jon left us fresh mangos to eat and let us have a slightly late check out today before our long flight back to the UK The gardens and pool area a stunning and a credit to Jon’s hard work The rooms are simple but perfect One thing to note they no longer serve breakfast but there’s plenty places near

We loved this accommodation! John, the owner super friendly and full of local information and suggestions for the best local food and drinks. The Guilford River Retreat is nestled in a beautiful garden of which which we took full advantage. Take away and wine under the vines was wonderful.
