Hotel is on lovely grounds but the room was small open planned shower which fogged out the entire room and mirrors. Had to close blinds because everyone walking past could see in. Shower also sprayed into room so had to move shower head and put 2/3 towels on floor as no door. Bed had dog hairs all over it floor was dirty. Walked around grounds and found many a dog poo and mess from a wedding the day before everywhere. Don’t buy Prosecco £60 a bottle. Didn’t eat there so cannot comment. For £161 per night this was far from boutique shame as beautiful surroundings. Staff were lovely though

We really enjoyed our nights stay here with our dog. The staff were really lovely, the place itself and the grounds were stunning, our room was fab and our massages with Lisa were amazing! She is incredible. The only slight complaint was waiting 40 minutes for our afternoon tea, when we were the only people there, which was a bit weird, but the few staff that were there, were very apologetic and sweet about it, Especially Lisa.

BEWARE!! Booked room for special anniversary 3 months ago near Guildford. Cancelled by hotel due to prebooked wedding with less than 48 hours notice. Offered upgrade one hour away or rebook on another date! Had to rebook elsewhere at short notice costing extra £150. Refused any recompense! Would never book with this chain again.

I took my wife for an afternoon tea at this hotel one Sunday. Our anniversary treat turned out to be memorable... The good news – the food was excellent. That however was no compensation for the shockingly poor service. On arrival we were ‘greeted’ in an offhand and unwelcoming manner. The tables we were offered outside on the terrace were dirty and had cracked (unhygenic) plastic surfaces. We were served tea after about 10 minutes, and only then did a server come to clean the table around the crockery! After half an hour we had one desultory semi apology for the long wait. One hour and ten minutes after we arrived we enquired again when our food would appear. It then arrived almost immediately. By this time the tea was stone cold and we were not offered refills of tea or water. Had the food arrived one minute later we would have left in disgust. The food was a round of sandwiches, cakes and pastries. Not something I would expect a hotel of this size to need 70 minutes to prepare. Especially as we had booked for a specific time in advance. On leaving, the staff member taking our payment seemed equally offhand, failing to return our credit card. This would have been the ideal time for them to comment and indeed, apologise for the delay in serving us. There was not even a “did you enjoy your afternoon tea?” I really did not expect such terrible service at a luxury hotel. The staff seemed bored and indifferent and no-one appeared to be bothered about our impossibly long wait. The experience certainly did not warrant the cost. At the hotel's invitation a few days later I completed their on-line review of our experience. I opted to make this private, expecting them to contact me to say something. But as they have opted to ignore me, I am making this public.

We have to agree with the many reviews we’ve read since staying at Barnett Hill Hotel. The hotel is a beautiful old house with lots of character set in the most glorious gardens in Surrey countryside. Our room was comfy and clean. We first noticed that the service was a little shambolic when we ordered our cream tea. The scones and jam arrived but the waitress seemed surprised that we wanted a pot of tea with them although we had ordered tea. Later our evening meal main took almost 2 hours to arrive staff just walked past us for most of the evening ignoring us until we pointed out that we had sat down at 8pm, had our starter at 8.18pm ish and we were still waiting for our main at 9:45pm! The meal when it finally arrived was a very odd combination of flavours and not very hot. Kind of mass produced Cordon Bleu. Breakfast was unremarkable. I think the scrambled eggs were made from dried egg. Again the service was frustratingly slow and staff seemed indifferent to the guests. Such a shame as we would have liked to go back and stay again but never would now.

Although we only stopped for coffee at this hotel I feel I must congratulate the hotel on its beautiful gardens and friendly staff. The grounds are immaculate and the flowers beautiful. Top marks to whoever is in charge of the grounds. Also by what we saw of the interior of the hotel that looked immaculate as well.

Where do I start we booked our wedding at this beautiful hotel and we where so so happy but it soon went down hill after that we had around 6 different wedding coordinators I did almost everything for them sent over all menus table plans rooming lists we only got our final bill around 8 days before the wedding and as a staff member at one of there other hotels was told if I did not pay for the we’d they would cancel it my question was why would I pay if you have not given me a final balance we paid what we needed to Then the we’d day was shocking we had taken over the whole hotel so all the bed rooms there where so many things that I was not helped with my wedding chairs where not put out right the grounds where we where getting married had not been cleaned up from a previous wedding I had to do all my chair sashes and my guests where turning up had to help me out I then had ten minutes to get ready before I got married then the food was super but then when one of my guests had her room given to someone else this was not a problem so I thought I said to the receptionist we have rooms left so she could go in to one of them I then went around with her to find that there where rooms left dirty from the gusts the day before this is not what we had paid for I was then asked to go into a meeting the morning after but my husband was not allowed to come in I had still to pay some money that I was not happy to do so 6 days later my husband’s card was charged he had not ever left his card as a pre authorised so them trying to take money from him was against the law you can’t do that I then was called to one of the other hotels by the company operations director mr Ian Heath to be told that the owners want there money I had said that I would like to bring my husband in to the meeting but was not allowed this is not how things should be done I told him how disgusting it was and how bad the wedding was that I had been made to cry on my wedding day and when I said about dirty rooms and a staff member smoking pot in one of the room he couldn’t give a dam he just wanted the money then a week later was my pay day they then took my whole wage without my say so or talking to me about this You are probably wondering why I left it so long it is because I was working ant one of there other hotels in horley I would tell everyone to avoid this company at all costs they don’t give a dam about people or your wedding day it’s all about how much they can get out of you

The hotel is in the most beautiful setting with immaculate lawns and gorgeous plants. Our room was excellent, large and airy. We had probably the best Full English Breakfast ever! Great to stay in such lovely surroundings with our dog, who was also well catered for with treats and sausages for breakfast!
