Upon arrival the room I was given smelled strongly of smoke (I'm allergic to smoke), and the front desk assistant spoke no English so it took a while to get a room that I could live with (and in). He went above and beyond, for which I'm truly grateful.
The room was large and clean on a high floor and the bed was very comfortable.
The breakfast was only Chinese, but I had multiple options that I could pick my way through to avoid chili.
The location was closer to Guilin station and had a very nice shopping center 5 minutes walk away, which included a Walmart!
The big issue with ALL the hotels in China is that despite stating they have non-smoking rooms, every room has an ashtrays in it, and people smoke in the rooms despite the non-smoking signs. The smell then gets into the curtains and soft furnishings so the smell never disappears.
Good value for money.
