The Other Corner Habarana

A lovely place to watch wildlife and visit the Sigiriya rock fortress. Our stay was made by the hotel staff and in particular the naturalist guide who accompanied us on a night walk and a bird watching trip on the lake. The hotel gardens were simply full of butterflies and birds. The only disappointment was the pool water which was cloudy and the surrounding area which the ants had laid claim to making sitting on a pool lounger too much of a challenge.

A lovely little setting! Me and my Dad really enjoyed looking at all the birds and monkeys in the surroundings here! The food at the restaurant was delicious too. We did an early morning bird walk, and I’m annoyed at myself for not remembering the gentleman’s name, but he was amazing! I mentioned I liked raptors, so he made sure the point those out. Very happy to have seen a Brown Fish Owl! He was not only great at spotting and identifying the birds on our walk, but even after it had ended, he saw me wandering around looking for birds. He didn’t have to do this, but he showed me a couple of other great spots to see some rarer species! Many thanks!

This was a very special hotel set in beautiful grounds. Right from our approach over the little bridge to the amazing welcome we got from the wonderful staff..we knew we would remember this one. The accommodation itself was basic but very clean and had everything we needed. We were blown away by all the wildlife everywhere and how well maintained the beautiful gardens were. The main attraction though are the staff... they go above and beyond to make your stay a memorable one, right from letting my husband and son hold the little snake they were caring for, to our magnificent final meal they had set up for us by candlelight in the gardens. It was truly magical. I can't recommend this hotel enough and hope that one day we will visit again!
